Financial Controller (Angola, FMCG)

Our Client is a large reputable group, the market leader within FMCG arena in Angola.

The FC will be accountable for the accurate and timely production of:
• Management reporting
• Annual budget and semi-annual forecast

Purpose:
• To be the custodian of financial/operating controls within the region.
• To coordinate, supervise and follow-up all financial, accounting and budgeting activities of the Region and ensure that financial and management controls are exercised over the operation and capital expenditures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participates in the formulation of the financial policies and procedures.
• Comment results and support effective strategic decision making for the company as a whole.
• Ensure the accuracy and timely preparation of monthly results, forecasts, yearly budget and financial statements.
• Coordinates and supervises all financial and accounting operations e.g. credits, expenditures, account collection, sales, purchasing etc…
• Follows-up the comparative budgeting reports and recommends corrective action, as necessary, based on the actual results achieved.
• Prepares financial budget and assists / supervises the budget preparation of other departments.
• Developing, enhancing and promoting a strong internal control environment throughout the company.
• Ensures the proper implementation of the established Company’s policies and procedures in the most efficient manner and at the lowest cost.
• Ensures the adoption of all necessary measures to protect the Company’s assets e.g internal control and proper insurance coverage.
• Coordinates with external auditors to resolve all corporate related matters
• Supervises his direct subordinates work programs.
• Undertakes any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Finance & Accountancy as a minimum
• MBA or Professional Accounting Qualification is a plus
• At least 8 years’ experience in a similar position in FMCG, or Cash & Carry or Retail business in a large organization (USD hundreds of millions T/O)
• Controlling experience
• Emerging markets experience ideally in Africa
• People management experience
• Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to change
• Diligent with strong attention to detail
