Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

PROJECT MANAGER
The primary role of the Project Manager is preparing and maintaining project, stage and exception plans as required and coordinate the progress of the project to ensure that the project is on-track and within the budget.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Designing and applying appropriate project management standards
• Managing the production of the required deliverables
• Planning and monitoring the project
• Adopting any delegation and use of project assurance roles within agreed reporting structures
• Managing project risks, including the development of contingency plans
• Liaison with program management (if the project is part of a program) and related projects to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated
• Monitoring overall progress and use of resources, initiating corrective action where necessary
• Applying change control and configuration management processes
• Reporting through agreed lines on project progress through highlight reports and end-stage assessments
• Liaison with appointed project assurance representatives to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project
• Maintaining an awareness of potential interdependencies with other projects and their impact
• Adopting and applying appropriate technical and quality strategies and standards
• Identifying and obtaining support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the project
• Managing project administration
• Conducting a project evaluation review to assess how well the project was managed preparing any follow-on action recommendations
• Coordination with classification societies, production team, ship superintendents and ship owners
• Preparing monthly reports, work specification/work done
• Update technical specification and documents

Requirements

Education & Experience:
• Master or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or degree in marine engineering is an added advantage
• 5+ years of relevant work experience including 2 years in managerial role and experience in shipbuilding or marine industry is an added advantage

Skills & Required Competencies:
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, strong attention to detail
• Good at building rapport with the customer in order to achieve a closer working relationship
• Have the ability to develop innovative and practical solutions to technical problems
• Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical disciplines, production personnel and executives, both internal and external
• Highly perceptive to new technologies, always striving for technical excellence
• Easy going personality capable of working on many tasks concurrently
• Advanced team contribution skills and ability to perform under pressure
• Good understanding of human relations
• Able to converse/write in : English and Russian
• Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD, and knowledge of Primavera 6

About the Company

Baku Shipyard LLC joint venture was founded on May 10, 2011 under the laws of Azerbaijan with State Oil Company of Azerbaijan owning 65%, Azerbaijan Investment Company 25%, and Keppel Offshore Marine 10%, has developed and put into operation the most modern shipbuilding and ship repair facility in the Caspian Sea. Main activity of the Baku Shipyard consists of the construction of a variety of vessels ranging from offshore support vessels, general cargo vessels, tug boats, crane vessels, specialized vessels and passengers vessels to tankers. The yard also undertakes ship repair and conversion of such vessels.
