Shipbuilding Construction Manager

Job description / Role

We are looking for a Shipbuilding Construction Manager to oversee and manage the construction of ships at our facility in Azerbaijan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shipbuilding, marine engineering, project management, and team leadership and will be responsible for ensuring that the construction process is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall construction process of ships, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and production teams (Hull, Outfitting, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Painting, Insulation and Carpentry) to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
- To optimize/improve fabrication & construction methodologies/practices/techniques
- Manage and lead a team of construction professionals, including shipbuilders, welders, and technicians
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards throughout the construction process
- Monitor and report on progress, budget, and schedule to senior management and stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during the construction process
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to implement any necessary changes or improvements
- Ensure accurate documentation of on-site activities for each trade. Document trade-specific work procedures, changes, and any deviations from the original plan. Maintain detailed records for future reference and compliance

Requirements

- Only candidates with more than 5 years of experience in shipbuilding management and at least 3-4 delivery projects in this field will be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, naval architecture, or a related field; advanced degree or certification in project management is a plus.
- Proficient in English; Russian proficiency is desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding processes, materials, and techniques.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and manage resources effectively.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Good understanding of safety regulations and quality standards in shipbuilding.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

About the Company

Baku Shipyard LLC joint venture was founded on May 10, 2011 under the laws of Azerbaijan with State Oil Company of Azerbaijan owning 65%, Azerbaijan Investment Company 25%, and Keppel Offshore Marine 10%, has developed and put into operation the most modern shipbuilding and ship repair facility in the Caspian Sea. Main activity of the Baku Shipyard consists of the construction of a variety of vessels ranging from offshore support vessels, general cargo vessels, tug boats, crane vessels, specialized vessels and passengers vessels to tankers. The yard also undertakes ship repair and conversion of such vessels.
