Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Role purpose:
• Support dockerized Java application 24/7 over clustered Linux environment including SQL execution.
• Deliver new application releases using GoCD pipelines.
• Support the delivery manager in delivery run train and testing team in application functional testing and validating the results/error-messages.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
• Technical Operation:
• Experienced with Linux based systems.
• Experienced with application servers and middleware components (WebLogic).
• Experienced with web servers and its security hardening (Apache).
• Experienced with Dockerized applications and managing Docker Deployments (Docker Compose).
• Experienced with Java EE (Java 8 or higher is preferred).
• Troubleshooting experience with Java applications.
• Database Experience (Oracle DB).
• Scripting languages (Shell, Python).
• Very good understanding of networking and networking appliances: routing, switching, load balancers, firewalls.
• Very good understanding of Continuous Integration & Delivery Tools (Jenkins/GoCD).
• Very good understanding of VCS (Git/SVN).
• Very good understanding of configuration management tools (ansible).
• Fair experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Fair experience with working in an Agile environment (Scrum, SaFe).
• Ability to document process flow diagrams.
• Familiar with systems integration.
• Knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs is a plus.
• Knowledge of Splunk monitoring tool is a plus.
• Certified in WebLogic is a plus.
• Certified in RHCSA is a plus.
• Escalate and communicate raised issues from Vodafone OpCos to vendor's support.
• Keep up to date with the new product versions and new releases.
• Transfer the knowledge to other team members when necessary.
• Ensure to use the pre-production environment for testing activities before launching a new service.
• Ensure to maintain the preproduction environment similar to the production platform.
• Ensure to maintain the preproduction environment availability for all the backend systems excluding planned outage.
• Manage installing and upgrading software. This includes the deployment of new shipments.
• Managing any crisis related to the system.
• Follow the crisis management process.
• Automating or scripting manual tasks.

Requirements

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
• Responsible for backend Linux servers infrastructure.
• Have access to backend logs to investigate errors.
• Join calls with stakeholders / Vendor during the implementation phase.
• Join daily standup call with business / vendor to share the service updates.
• Integrate and test the connectivity with all 3rd parties "VGECO, CFS, CIAM, Etc" systems.
• Extract reports from Oracle DB using SQL/SQLplus.
• Document process flow diagrams.

Must-have technical / professional qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical fields.
• 1 or 2 years as a Linux Engineer/System administrator.
• Good written and speaking English skills.
• Advanced verbal and written communication and coordination skills in English.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Have a can-do attitude, quick learner, able to come up speed on multiple technologies quickly.
