About the role

Purpose of the job

Building an elastic , high performance computing and storage platform that underpins the diverse workloads running on data lake infrastructure.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Contribute in executing team plans according to the department strategic vision.

2. Provide strong technical contribution with a focus on quality, performance, and security.

3. Adopt a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical decision making.

4. Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, modelers and IT team members on project goals.

5. Optimize the performance and support monitoring of data platform systems and computing infrastructure.

6. Deliver on service availability and quality SLAs.

7. Work with the team on problems involving large scale distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, data and metadata storage, computing infrastructure automation and more.

8. Supporting junior engineers.

Requirements

Job specification

Education

1. Bachelor degree of Engineering in Computer Systems, or Computer Science.

Experience:
- 1-3 years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Solid engineering fundamentals with extensive and strong software development experience.
- Experience and understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum procedures.
- Experience working in a big data environment and using big data tools is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure as a code, automation and DevOps practices is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Very good English both written & spoken.

2. Excellent collaboration and communication skills and comfortable working across multiple teams.

3. Strong hands-on skill, can drill deep into complex systems design and implementation.

4. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

5. Excellent knowledge of database systems.

6. Excellent programming and debugging skills.
