Your Role and Responsibilities
The IBM Systems Lab Services organization is looking for a Storage Management Consultant with expertise in IBM storage technology and products to lead and deliver pre-sales and post-sales client engagements that enable the adoption of IBM Spectrum Storage solutions and help influence IBM revenue. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated a successful history of IBM storage consultative and architectural project engagements, be familiar with architectural methods, can independently assess IT solutions, evaluate gaps in best practices and create solution recommendations for client environments while displaying excellent collaboration and communication with Clients, Sellers, Business Partners and Colleagues by delivering reports to clients.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering consulting assessments and workshops for the IBM Spectrum Protect family of products - IBM Spectrum Protect, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, and IBM Copy Data Management utilizing best practices.

You will also plan, build and document architectures and designs for our client's Protect solution based on business, financial and technical requirements.
You will be proficient with Spectrum Protect and have a successful history of working with containerized environments. General experience in container-based implementations including installing, configuring, customizing RedHat OpenShift for large, complex client environments.

You should have hands-on experience and expertise in proof of concept (PoC) projects and planning and deploying IBM storage solutions in client data center environments while integrating multi-vendor components. Providing services to our clients in a number of areas, including, but not limited to: Competitive migrations and upgrades, assessments, hardware/software deployments, implementation of specialized solutions (such as virtualization and disaster recovery), sizing for enterprise applications, troubleshooting customer environments, and reviewing/recommending systems designs and implementations.
You may also have the opportunity to develop new services offerings and capabilities that support both IBM's organic and any newly acquired Storage technologies that support our Software Defined Storage growth initiatives. This IBM Lab Services Storage Delivery team position requires excellent client facing communications; very strong individual planning and project management skills; flexibility and a willingness to work in a dynamic environment; and customer travel (typically 10-25%).

Requirements

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

- 6+ years of experience with Spectrum Protect
- Proficient in Unix, Linux administration
- Thorough understanding of storage management concepts (NFS, CIFS, zoning, SAN & block storage, RAID, volume groups, logical volumes, and file systems)
- Proficient in Spectrum Protect and OS level Scripting ( bash / python /perl , etc..)
- Experience with Storage Virtualization, deduplication strategies and products, NetApp NAS (NFS / CIFS), VTL backup technologies, working knowledge of TCP/IP networks, and a solid understanding of SAN technology and design
- Strong skills in DevOps
- Solid understanding of Public Cloud skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

- Proficient at installing, configuring, customizing RedHat OpenShift 4.x / OCP 4.6 and higher
- General experience in container-based implementations
- Knowledge of Ansible, Kubernetes and Docker
