Job Description:

Exciting career opportunity in the Research & Development function, in the capacity of Research & Development Manager, MEA based in Cairo BU, Egypt.

The main purpose of the role is to independently plan, conduct and execute complex projects and/or develop complex functional expertise. Responsible for development and implementation of new biscuits products across MEA Region located at Egypt. The responsibility is focused on multi brand under the treat platform and provide RDQI technology solutions and fund resource on Growth, QI, Brand Maintenance, but can also include projects from Global Platforms

• Development of new products.
• Development of product formula and identify CTQ.
• Improvement of quality through value added design per PQB schedule.
• Maintaining of brand equity asset.
• Coordinates contacts regarding national food legislation, liaisons with local authorities and institutions.

Main Responsibilities:

• Consumer Insights
- Ensures the technical design supports to the consumer concept benefit.
- Understands the consumer relevant benefit of any development.
- Understands the consumer target for any development.
- Leverages consumer insights into the product, process or package design.
- Identifies and communicate technologies that underpin the concept and insulate it from competitors.

• Exploratory Prototyping
- Organize and provide development of preliminary prototypes, for a customer. The customer may be internal (Marketing, Operations, R&D) or external (e.g. consumer)
- Ensures a common objective / hypothesis for the prototype development is met.
- The prototype development should not move into product development without MOR approval.
- Inputs technical feasibility, timing & resources into the FR.

• Development
- Specifies Project related Quality Objectives and mobilises all necessary means in terms of time and personnel to achieve these objectives.
- Assure cross functional activity with other department as for leading projects for biscuits category (QA, BD Production, Marketing, PCM, Finance Controlling and issues department postings to partners.).
- Manages Corrective Actions for non-conforming Project Activities.
- Assesses technical feasibility.
- Reviews AR for technical accuracy.
- Inputs to business proposition any technical risks.
- Informing Manager in timely manner and provide biscuits projects timely update.

• Commercialization (50:50 accountability with operations)
- Champions NPD implementation with AMEA RDQI treat platform leader
- Develops and agrees all Technical Product Documentation. This includes Formula, Manufacturing Procedure, Finished Product Specifications, HACCP Document and Raw Material Specifications.
- Product Commissioning and Qualification.
- Organize Production start-up meeting.
- Prepare handover checklist, agree with Manager and prepare termination of Project.

• Training
- Forwards the whole newest information from the central R&D and R&D Manager.
- Review competitor's activity as for NPD and new technology IP.

• Troubleshooting / Efficiency Enhancements
- Provides technical support to Operations:
- Troubleshooting (short term)
- Provides timely and accurate technical information and / or testing to resolve operational and / or quality issues.

• Follow requirements of normative acts related to accident prevention and environmental care, labor and fire safety as well as corporate regulations on GMP, HACCP, SS&E, ISO-9001, 14001, ISO 22000, strictly adhere to Quality Policy.
• Be Technical mentor for the junior members of RD&Q Biscuit's team at the regional level. Develop Best Practices and Learnings of conducted projects and share within R&D.
• Know and adhere to ethical and legal obligations required by the position, take into account any non-compliance with these obligations, apply the principle of "integrity" to all aspects of professional (business) conduct.
• Achieve annual Goals set and approved by direct manager in annual VLPD forms.

Requirements

Qualifications

• University degree on food chemistry or engineering (scientific degree would be advantage).
• Minimum 8 - 10 years' experience in Product or Process development.
• Sound knowledge of biscuits technology plus a general understanding of other food related technologies.
• Good understanding of marketing and consumers benefits.
• Fluency in English & Arabic.
• People managing - motivating and developing with high Project management skills.
• Time Management (Organized) and detail oriented.
• Experience of working in a multicultural teams and environment.
• Team Player ability to support and lead to achieve common goals.
• Strong Communication and Presentation skills.
• Problem solving: Proactive and resourceful in solving problems, offering innovative and practical solutions in dynamic environment.
