Overview of the role

Marks and Spencer is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining store standards, and contributing to the overall success of the store.

What you will do

Customer Service Excellence:
- Greet customers warmly and offer assistance to ensure an exceptional shopping experience.
- Provide knowledgeable and informed advice about our products, promotions, and services.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently.

Store Presentation and Cleanliness:
- Maintain high standards of store cleanliness and organization.
- Ensure that merchandise is neatly displayed and properly stocked.
- Assist in the setup and execution of promotional displays and seasonal changes.

Sales and Product Knowledge:
- Stay informed about product features, benefits and availability to assist customers effectively.
- Actively promote current sales, special offers, and loyalty programs to customers.
- Aim to meet or exceed sales targets through excellent customer service and product knowledge.

Cash Handling and Transactions:
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently at the checkout.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions securely and responsibly.
- Maintain the cash wrap area in a clean and organized manner.

Team Collaboration:
- Work effectively as part of the team to ensure smooth store operations.
- Communicate regularly with colleagues and supervisors about store needs and customer feedback.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving store performance.

Stock Management:
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing new merchandise.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and report discrepancies to management.
- Ensure that stock levels are maintained and that products are readily available for customers.

Fitting Room Assistance:
- Provide excellent service in the fitting rooms, assisting customers with sizes and styles.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the fitting room area.
- Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with their selections.

Customer Engagement :
- Engage with customers to build relationships and foster brand loyalty.
- Thank customers for their purchases and invite them to return.
- Gather customer feedback to help improve the shopping experience.

Requirements

Required Skills to be successful
- 1-2 years of retail sales experience is preferred
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Positive attitude and professional appearance.
