Job description / Role

Role purpose:

Digital Network Engineering are responsible for the Digital transformation of Vodafone networks where innovative digital planning, optimizations and tools automation are delivered on Google Cloud leveraging on the Vodafone Data Ocean. The Digital Network Engineering journey starts from digital solution definition and design, passing through development and delivery up to network operation.

As a solution architect you will be designing Vodafone's next generation network digital solutions and data platform in conjunction with architects and teams across Vodafone. This requires someone who will embed within the delivery squads and the Architectural Runway but also engage with peers, product managers, Cyber Security and Privacy to create a consistent design with common standards.

The Senior Cloud Solution Architect will be responsible for architecture design deliverables of the network digital solutions and makes sure the solution is in-line with best practices of GCP and Vodafone architecture standards.

This role will:
- Design, prototype, and deliver end to end solutions on full-stack technologies (focus on Google Cloud), leveraging its rich native services offering,
- Design modern and scalable data platform and solution architectures.
- Respond to business needs for cost-efficiency and agility Support
- Provide Expertise and Issue management in crises situations.
- Partnership with tool suppliers (e.g. GCP) to ensure best in class design of (cutting-edge) technologies implemented at large scale
- Provide sourcing recommendations for software components and system integration work.
- Integrate architectural design following group architectural guidelines
- Produce proposals for new solutions, tools, strategies to address gaps or enhancements emerging in new markets gap analysis
- Document / keep up to date architecture evolution.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership
- Designing and supporting modern, scalable data platform and solution architectures (focusing on leveraging cloud services).
- Assessing and recommending the best of breed technology solutions to address business needs
- Designing and supporting enterprise-wide dynamically scalable, highly available, fault tolerant, secure and reliable BI & analytics solutions on cloud full-stack
- Responsible for analyzing and translating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint for cloud big data platform
- Safeguarding the overall solution and ensuring the adherence to the platforms architectural standards and principles.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience
- Cloud Architect with extensive experience in large scale integration projects (3+ years' min) and defining solution architecture standards and guidelines in the big data domain and applications
- Deep, hands-on designing cloud solutions Architecture including capabilities like: data ingestion (batch & real time), event driven platforms, data warehousing and lakehouse, data cataloguing, metadata management, e2e lineage, data quality, etc.
- Experiencing in assessing a broad range of information solutions and products
- 3+ years' experience in working in multi-project and multi-programme environment
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence stakeholders

Requirements

Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Google Cloud Professional certification
- Proven past experience of Google Cloud Platform implementations of data platforms, enablement of Machine Learning services and data analytics on GCP.
- Proven understanding of data movement technologies CDAP, Nifi, Kafka and Google Data Fusion.
- Extended knowledge of the most relevant components and vendors in more than one of the following technology areas: BI, Machine Learning, GCP, Kubernetes
- Background and knowledge of data processing (ETL/ELT), data warehousing, data cataloguing and data quality best practices, tools and technologies.
