About the role

Purpose of the job

As a Data Lake operations support specialist you'll work in a Big Data environment, to design, develop, implement and support high quality, reliable and resilient big data systems.

You will be working on deploying, configuring, monitoring, supporting and troubleshooting hardware, software solutions and workflows. You will be working closely with the data engineering and analysis teams to build and maintain end-to-end big data solutions that efficiently serve multiple teams and functions.

Duties and responsibilities
- Installing, configuring and monitoring operating systems, software applications and services
- Deploying, optimizing and maintaining various enterprise and commodity server clusters
- Deploying and troubleshooting networking, proxy and connectivity configurations
- Conduct research and make recommendations on workflows and infrastructure based on the presented challenges
- Provide support to the various teams developing and consuming the Data Lake infrastructure
- Optimize and automate deployments and maintenance functions to increase efficiency
- Keep track of servers performance, uptime, upgrade, backup and restore
- Collaborate with data architects, modelers, IT team members and vendors on project goals

Job specification

Education
- Bachelor degree of Engineering in Computer Systems, or Computer Science.

Experience
- 4+ years working with Linux and Windows server administration, performance management and troubleshooting
- Ability to manage highly utilized bare-metal and virtualized machines
- Prior experience with proxy and networking protocols
- Strong background in devOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Docker
- Deploying, configuring and maintaining database and Big Data systems such as Hadoop, Elastic stack, PostgreSQL,
- Knowledge and understanding of scripting languages such as Python, Bash,

Skills and abilities
- Very good English both written & spoken.
- Good computer skills.
- Past experience in telecom operators and service providers is preferred
- Good knowledge of database systems and BI solutions
- Good programming and debugging skills.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Ability to administer different hardware and operating system solutions.
