MAIN JOB PURPOSE

The business context is:

• A fully aligned global communications function to support Unilever's business ambition of doubling the size of the company while reducing the environmental imprint
• The execution of a single, joined up global communications strategy and plan
• increased interface and 'joined-up thinking' across Unilever brand, sustainability, marketing, communications and other relevant functions
• Communications as part of Unilever's annual planning cycle
• implementing a strategy of 'inspiring advocacy through dialogue and action' across all stakeholder groups to develop Unilever's reputation as 'a strong, growing, responsible company that engages me personally'
• A focus on four key themes to make Unilever famous: Business Performance; Brands & Innovation; Sustainable Living and Great Place, Great People
• Measure the effectiveness of communications in building reputation of the Unilever brand
• As part of the global communications strategy, planning and message function, this role will contribute to:
• Developing and delivering an integrated EE communications plans based on the MCO and Cluster strategy
• The development of KPIs for Local/MCO communications output and delivery against them
• Ensuring that all Local/MCO activities and messages are phased and aligned within an agreed plan and timescale

The team and the role

• Manage and coordinate internal communications in the Business Unit (BU)/Multi-Country Organization (MCO) to engage employees ensuring consistency, quality and efficiency of communication.
• Operate as Internal Communication Business partner to the business, providing support to senior management whilst coordinating all communications activities in line with Unilever's business agenda and targets.
• Actively participate in the Cluster Management team of Employee engagement and Sustainability for setting the strategy and key tactics for the group, reflecting the BU's business agenda and targets
• Drive sustainability agenda to support business growth: develop and support BU's sustainable business strategies and activations including advising on brands and CD sustainability activations, leadership narrative, internal USLP activations

JOB SUMMARY

GENERAL

• Network flawlessly with the cluster and global Employee Engagement and Sustainability network, ensuring the country/MCO is well represented and connected to the functional hub.
• Set and manage appropriate internal communication tools and channels as necessary to ensure the most targeted communication.
• Engage internal stakeholders to support the achievement of the businesses sustainable development strategies

SPECIFIC EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

Employee Engagement

• Using the Global & Cluster EE plans, set the strategy and key tactics for the Business Unit that reflect the BU's business agenda and targets
• Develop and execute communication plans that strengthen the Compass agenda turning employees into advocates of the company
• Effectively communicate to employee motivating them and reducing clutter.
• Ensure that Unilever/MCO/BU business objectives, strategies and plans are coordinated, communicated and cascaded into the functions. Conversely, capture messages, activities and examples from the functions to use in global communication including features/themes and best practice.
• Continuously improve local communication processes & tools.

Sustainable Business

• Track and follow up Sustainability projects for the business and be the central point of contact for successful project follow through and execution
• Provide advice to the internal key stakeholders on way forward and partnerships, specifically:
• Input and advise brands on USLP activations and partnerships and support conversion of brands into sustainable living brands
• Support Go-to-Market stakeholders in driving sustainability with customers and relevant partnerships
• Participate in external sustainability related initiatives where partnership opportunities arise.

Requirements

• Experience in a similar role/organization
• Bachelor's degree
• Understanding business and strategy and being able to translate that into simple communication
• Familiarity of basics of internal communication and channels of communication
• Cultural focus and awareness
• Good writing ability
• Ability to deal with and interact with top management
• Understanding of Sustainability as a business driver
