Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsibilities
• Management of the execution of the transport operation, ensuring vehicle utilisation is maximised and service levels met
• Ensure the sites consistently meets the customer expectations in relation to service and quality, ensuring that operational processes & SOPs are followed consistently and that performance targets are achieved or exceeded
• Recruitment, management and development of drivers and transport management team including succession planning
• Ensure delivery of agreed budget /cost efficiency targets through effective financial management
• Compliance with company and local statutory obligations regarding working time legislation, operator licensing, Health and Safety and Quality Management
• Achievement of customer service levels in line with contractual agreement for Home Delivery
• Ensure that the Company’s health and safety policies and obligations are adhered to and that all Safe Systems of Work are adhered to
• Ensure compliance with road transport legislation
• Lead and develop the transport team whilst promoting a positive environment of continuous improvement
• Achievement of customer service levels in line with contractual agreement for Home Delivery
• Preparation of KPI's in line with customer and company requirements for weekly quicks calls with the customer
• Ensure all Fleet Management and Vehicle Maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner
• Responsibility for all issues relating to Health & Safety and the Environment for internal and external customers
• Is focused on identifying and meeting customer needs and acts to establish a successful long-term business partnership with internal and external customers using effective communication
• Works with team / colleagues to ensure plans, processes and activity are aligned to customer needs
• Solves customer issues in a timely and responsive manner
• Builds an effective relationship with the customer
• Works with the contract leadership team as necessary
• Works with union officials effectively
• Works with the HR Business Partner, HR Resolution Managers, People Services and Resourcing Centre on HR topics as appropriate
• Develops effective vendor relationship management with all relevant suppliers
• Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and follows site policies in the management of absence and performance, recruitment
• Looks for ways to continuously improve and delivers operational continuous improvement using first choice methodology
• Contributes to an environment where all colleagues stand up for their ideas and where the status quo can always be challenged for the better
• Provides effective leadership of the FLM's and encourages effective cooperation among team members and between teams to inspire and achieve high standards of performance
• Ensure that all employee relations issues are identified quickly and dealt with effectively to ensure high levels of employee satisfaction and engagement
• Regular reviews on a 121 basis with direct reports and manage performance as appropriate
• Plan and deliver FLM and Colleague succession through the agreed review process
• Continuous improvement of employee engagement and the employee survey results

Requirements

• Experience in a Supply Chain business is essential 2 years’ experience managing teams is essential 2 years in transport management role is desirable
• Knowledge and experience of Transport legislation GCSE/O Level or equivalent Secondary Level is essential
• Transport operations qualification (CPC National and International) is essential
