Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Wood is currently looking for an Iraq National Site Lead to strengthen our team in Basra, Iraq. The position will be on a 6/1 Rotation.

Job Objective

Manage and be Focal Point for Local National activities, issues, concerns and all other actions on the Wood. contracts in WQ1.
Be main point of contact for all subcontracts that Wood place with Iraqi companies in support of contracts. Support Project Manager in implementation and completion of execution ensuring appropriate reporting and governance is in place. Requires knowledge and experience of the technical/functional area being managed and awareness of the
business issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Delivery
- Ensure all Local Nationals employed have full Wood inductions and HSE training before starting work on WQ1.
- Carry out regular refresher training of Safety Cocoon and other HSE initiatives.
- Ensure all LNs have correct IT equipment, PPE and other items required to undertake their work.
- Visit LN work locations and sites regularly and undertake HSE discussions with LN workforce.
- With Iraq Operations team ensure roll out of Wood HSE and other Wood initiatives to all LN staff
- Immediately address any issues raised by LN's. Keep a register of these and update on a regular basis.
- Assist in the Competency Assessment and subsequent training requirements of LN in conjunction with the UAE based Wood Functional Lead.
- Lead any local disciplinary investigations with assistance from P&O.
- Approve LN's weekly timesheets, leave requests, sick leave and other administrative issues.
- Meet regularly with Site Management to discuss and issues associated with LNs.
- Ensure all LNs are provided with suitable transportation from home to the site and around the site.
- Be Wood Focal Point for all work carried out by Iraqi sub-contractors.
- Take part in Iraq based audits as required.
- Assist in the selection and recruitment of new Local national personnel.
- Take active part in Wood lraqisation plan, including Graduate Program and other activities.
- Manage and minimize any costs associated with LN workforce.
- Be proactive in Decision Making around LN and Iraq issues without having to revert regularly to Senior Management.
- Manage confrontations and difficult situations with LNs in a positive and timely manner.
- Employee assistance to ensure welfare and support to resolve any hardships identified/flagged.
- Leads a small project team consisting of technical/professional staff usually from one office.
- Develops, communicates, and reinforces team objectives and agrees ways of working with the team.

- Actions and decisions typically have a significant influence on the technical, operational and financial results of one or more small projects.
- Work is assigned in terms of specific objectives and reviewed for feasibility; non-standard matters are referred to more senior authority

Working Relationships

Internal: Leads a functional team, including relevant interfaces with Shared services team.
External: Builds internal and external relationships, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement
of delivery milestones, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers and internal/external service
providers or contractors.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- Engineering or Business Degree or equivalent qualification

Knowledge, skills and experience:
- 10+years of relevant professional experience
