Employment: Full Time

Wood is currently recruiting for a Welding Inspector (Iraqi local nationals only) this position, and work pattern is 4 weeks ON X 4 weeks OFF, we can only consider applications from local Iraqi nationals residing in Basra and surrounding areas..

Reporting to the Quality Control & Surveillance supervisor, to ensure the highest standards of welding quality and compliance on construction projects, safeguarding the integrity and safety of welded structures. This will involve inspecting welding work against codes, specifications, and project requirements, providing guidance, and collaborating with stakeholders.

The Phase 1 will restore, upgrade, and develop the current plant (CPF1) including: Restoration of initial CPF1 capacity; building a new export pipeline (24", ~30km); restoration of CPF1 integrity and operability (dated 2008); flaring reduction by Q1/Q2 2026 and released water; development of new flowlines, pads, and electrification network for approximately 30 new wells; debottlenecking of the plant; upgrade of the Safety and Security facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Continuously monitor welding activities against project specifications, contract requirements, and relevant
- codes (Piping, Structural, Pressure Vessel).
- Conduct regular on-site inspections and surveillance to identify and address potential quality issues early.
- Review work plans and validate test data for accuracy and adherence to standards
- Provide expert guidance on welding quality requirements to promote self-assessment and continuous improvement among welding personnel.
- Interpret and apply relevant welding codes and specifications to ensure material compliance and construction integrity.
- Represent the company as a qualified welding inspector at witness and intervention points in site construction ITPs.
- Liaise with client and contractor quality personnel to ensure clarity on inspection requirements and hold points.
- Advocate for "right first-time" welding practices through participation in toolbox talks and quality meetings.
- Produce comprehensive and accurate reports of all inspections conducted, highlighting findings, actions taken, and recommendations.
- Monitor contractor supervision of on-site and off-site fabrication to ensure adherence to quality control procedures.
- Conduct in-depth audits and inspections of welding activities, materials, and equipment to identify deviations from procedures and specifications.
- Coordinate welding activities with other disciplines involved in the project, such as design, fabrication, and construction.
- Participate actively in daily production meetings, providing QC and NDT updates.
- Strong understanding and application of relevant welding codes and standards.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and reporting skills.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in welding inspection or closely related field.
- Proven track record of success in ensuring quality and code compliance on complex construction projects.
- Recognized welding inspector qualifications such as CSWIP 3.2, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI),or equivalent.
- Strong understanding and application of relevant welding codes and standards
