Assistant Manager (SQL DBA )Systems & Databases (Database Administrator)

GENERIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Corporate governance Ensure all divisional activities comply with corporate governance & regulatory/legal frameworks
- People management Develop, motivate and coach people in line with succession & career planning requirements

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Database administration Manage database administration and ensure archiving, updating, recovery processes are robust
- Availability Deliver continuous service availability through availably management and problem resolution
- Capacity Manage and configure system capacity to minimize downtime
- Disaster recovery Ensure disaster recovery capabilities are in place and are tested for functionality
- Maintenance, Planning and manage upgrades of systems, databases, firewalls etc.
- Security Implement and maintain security and firewall standards
- Documentation Ensure documentation of processes, policies and procedures is current and available
- Supplier management Manage suppliers and ensure they work in line with requirements and deliver value for money
- Performance management Monitor and report on infrastructure performance and identify areas of improvement

Reporting Provide daily, weekly and monthly KPI metrics and other performance reports
- Effective database administration i.e. timely, accurate, no glitches
- Successful end to end engagement with users
- Successful support in programming
- Successful troubleshooting and escalation
- Effective monitoring and maintenance of applications
- Good reliable testing
- Effective coordination with suppliers

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline (or equivalent experience)
- IT qualifications and training
- Banking systems
- Systems and databases and their functionality
- Capacity planning, disaster recovery processes

Knowledge:
- At least 5 year’s professional experience as a Database Administrator.
- Banking sector experience
- Infrastructure Systems (Network, Database Clustering and replication technologies, SAN Storage, Virtualization)
- Security management
