Commercial Manager

Job description / Role

The purpose of this role is to protect the Company’s contractual rights, maximise the profitability of all projects and work with company stakeholders to support commercial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Overall execution of the department’s strategy of ensuring a professional approach in all commercial and contractual aspects whilst maintaining the Company’s reputation.
- Close collaboration with the Project Controls Manager to ensure that the Commercial functions objectives are achieved.
- Develop the commercial team to efficiently and effectively perform defined tasks within Quantity Surveying and Contracts Administration and maintain coherent relationship with other departments within the organization.
- Dealing with all correspondence related to commercial and contractual matters.
- Reporting on commercial and contractual Project related matters.
- Joint responsibility for commercial outcome of projects.
- To support the preparation and finalization of Project budgets and its monitoring.
- Negotiation & preparation of pre-award and monitoring post-award of subcontracts as per IMS Procedure.
- Conduct monthly review meetings with internal stakeholders on each project.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to produce and present monthly reports to Executive Management team.
- To ensure insurance and bond related matters of contracts are fullfilled as per Company and contract requirements.
- Monitoring and compilation of allowance information for monthly Reports.
- Follow-up payment certificates with Consultant and client to ensure collections are received in accordance with contract terms. Include notification to other departments as appropriate.
- Ensure effective implementation of Commercial Procedures in the Company to fulfill the requirements of Company’s established Integrated Management System.
- Control of authority matrix in commercial matters for all Divisions/Departments.

Requirements

- BSc in Quantity Surveying is essential
- MRICS / FRICS preferred
- 15 years relevant experience in the contracts/commercial fields and 5 years in a similar position
- Detailed knowledge of budgeting, Project Execution, Quantity Surveying/commercial and Cost/Financial Reporting & Contracts Management
- Strong management and interpersonal skills
- SAP/ISO experience preferred
- Excellent knowledge and experience with forms of contract, such as FIDIC
- Experience working in Kuwait preferred and experience in the Middle East essential
