Lead Estimator

Job Purpose

The Lead Estimator specializes in analysing the costs associated with projects, in the beginning with main focus on cost of application of various international standards. The Cost Estimator shall be responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates that take into account all relevant factors, such as labour, materials, equipment, and overhead. They are a critical member of any project team, providing essential expertise and insights that help ensure the project is completed on time and within budget

Responsibilities
- Conducting research and gathering data on project specifications, such as blueprints, schematics, and other technical documentation.
- Conducting research and gathering cost data on applied international standards and compare this cost with estimated cost of client's specific standards
- Analysing data to determine the costs of standard application, materials, labour, and other factors necessary to complete the project.
- Developing cost estimates using a variety of methods, such as historical data, industry benchmarks, and industry-specific cost models.
- Preparing detailed cost reports that outline the costs associated with different aspects of the project, including labour, materials, and equipment.
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, client representatives and other stakeholders to ensure that cost estimates are accurate and comprehensive.
- Reviewing and updating cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle, as necessary.
- Communicating with clients and other stakeholders to explain cost estimates and address any questions or concerns.
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior cost estimators

Requirements

Experience Requirements

Experience
- Must have a degree /diploma in science or Financing / Accounting.
- Must have at least five (5) years hands on experience in Cost Estimation.
- Candidate having more than 20 years overall and more than 10 years related designation experience is considered to attain minimum academic qualification requirement.
- Total minimum experience in years: 10
- Total minimum experience in oil / gas / refiner / petrochemical industry in years: 5
- Minimum experience in related designation / speciality in years: 5
- Minimum hands-on experience in software for the automation of respective speciality in years: 4
- Experience working as a cost estimator in the relevant industry.
- Experience working out cost comparisons of various international Standards like ASME, API, NFPI, NEMA, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of cost estimating methodologies and tools, as well as industry-specific regulations and requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Excellent mathematical and computational abilities.
- Knowledge of cost estimating software and tools.
- Attention to Detail: Cost estimators must pay close attention to the details of the project or product being estimated. They need to consider every possible expense and factor that into the estimate.
