Manager- Learning and Development

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director- Corporate Training

DEPARTMENT: Corporate Training
Unit: Learning and Development

FUNCTION: Responsible for the overall management of the learning and development unit.

PRIMARY TASKS:
• Day-to-day management of the Learning and Development unit.
• Assign workflow for the design of quality professional training materials including workbooks, training aids, audio and visual support materials, instructor guides and assessments to meet the expectations of the client.
• Assign workflow associated with the process of course customization, and development of existing (internal and external) training programs to meet specific client needs.
• Design and prepare course outlines.
• Provision of high quality delivery of training sessions, programs and events.
• Promote ACK CT programs within the corporate community and refer potential leads.
• Responsible for the development of policies and procedures that relate to the Learning & Development function.
• Supervise, train, motivate and appraise performance of the staff and satisfy individual training and development needs.
• Implement and supervise operational standards, coordinate and maintain standard operating procedures.
• Fulfill the role of Assessment Manager for Centre for City & Guilds and ILM.
• Act as catalyst for change and improvement.
• Identify and champion opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Improves team efficiency and department effectiveness.
• Complies with ACK policies and procedures.
• Undertake other duties as required by the Director-Corporate Training.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for managing the resources dedicated to providing quality L&D solutions and services to ACK CT clients.

DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The position works under broad direction from the Senior Director and is expected to exercise sound judgment, considerable initiative and discretion in achieving outcomes. The occupant is required to operate within a significant degree of autonomy in day to day activities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years experience in the management of a Learning and Development, Industry Training or Competency Based Training function.
• Certificate IV TAE or equivalent (or prepared to commit to completing the qualification within 12 months).
• Highly developed organizational and time management skills.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

The Australian College of Kuwait has been established under Kuwait Law 34/2000, governing private universities in Kuwait, to provide internationally recognized and accredited education and training to the Business, Engineering, and Maritime sectors. It was licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education under Amiri Decree 141/2003 and commenced operation in October 2004.

The Private Universities Council (PUC) oversees the operation of ACK from the governments perspective and has accredited the College to operate as a provider of higher education courses. Initially offering two-year diploma courses, ACK now has PUC approval to offer degree programs as well. A 2+2 course is available whereby students obtain their diploma in two years and can then continue, if they wish, to study for a further two years to obtain their degree. This arrangement is unique in Kuwait.
