Job description / Role
The Senior QA/QC Engineer will lead the team managing the quality controls at the Project's Readymix Concrete Plant.
The Senior QA/QC Engineer will report directly to the Project’s Quality Assurance Manager and the Director – Infrastructure and Construction Management.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the team performing all aspects of quality assurance related to Readymix Concrete Plant production
• Develop mix designs with a keen focus on achieving optimum costs
• Provide technical advice and support to the site teams and various Clients
• Ensure Laboratory Technicians are technically competent and working efficiently
• Drive the safety culture within the team
• Produce the test schedules commensurate to the specifications and production plans
• Monitor that all constituent materials are compliant and are stored correctly
• Ensure testing equipment are always well maintained, serviced and calibrated
• Reject non-compliant materials & Issue Non-Conformance Reports
• Produce test certificates, end of month reports, etc.
• Ensure the laboratory is well stocked and functioning
• Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with updating and implementing procedures and audits
Requirements
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role
• Strong technical knowledge of concrete constituent materials and design and be well versed in codes and compliance criteria
• A Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering or suitable equivalent
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail skills
• Confident communicator and ability to build rapport at all levels
• Positive working attitude and an ability to work independently or as part of a team
• A “how can we improve” mind-set and an ability to implement change
• Proficient user of MS Office and Excel
• English Language (written & verbal) are essential, Arabic and/or Hindi skills would be an advantage
• A history of working abroad with large multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary construction projects is preferred.
