Employment: Full Time

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will undertake cost and contract management on a large, multi-faceted urban city development in the south of Kuwait. The role is primarily, but not solely, a contractor role.

The company has a 20+ year history, and ongoing culture, of constructing high quality work in the fields of bulk earthworks, marine works, roads & utility networks, bridges and treatment plants. We are now in an expansionary phase with a secured work order projected to extend 15+ years.

The ideal candidate will have significant relevant experience with preparing subcontractor and supplier contracts using the FIDIC suite of contracts for civil, infrastructure and building works.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will report to the Cost Controls Manager.

Responsibilities

• Administration of financial and contractual matters relating to contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, including payments, valuations, claims resolution and final accounts
• Tracking and reporting of cost expenditure and cost reconciliation
• Monitoring allocation of costs into the construction accounting software
• Drafting contracts and procuring larger material supplies from local, regional and international suppliers
• Undertaking value engineering and feasibility assessments
• Working closely with Senior Management on risk management (risk assessments, allocation of risk, insurances, etc.)
• Advising the construction teams on their contractual and procedural obligations in terms of notifications, time bars, instructions, etc.
• Mentoring Junior Quantity Surveyors and Cost Engineers
• Assisting the Cost Controls Manager with the formalisation and updating of project procedures

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering
• Min. 6 years’ contracting experience within the civil, infrastructure and/or building sector
• Current accreditation with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, or similar equivalent, is preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills essential (written and verbal), Arabic an advantage
• Strong working knowledge of Construction Contracts (FIDIC experience preferred)
• Extensive IT skills (Microsoft suite, AutoCAD and Construction Accounting Software)
• Experience with first principles estimating
• Attention to detail
• A history of working abroad with large multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams is preferred.
