Job description / Role
Marine Biologist / Eco Centre Coordinator (German speaking) In a Luxury Resort in the Maldives
• Guide snorkel safaris for guests 6 times a week
• Guide snorkeling on the house reef on demand
• Work in close cooperation with Aqua Watersports, excursions, the Dive School and the resort
• Guide snorkel courses on demand (supported by Eco Centre Coordinator when necessary)
• Man the Bio Station 6 days a week for two hours a day
• Provide bio presentations for guests 3 times a week in the evening
• Regularly control and organise necessary maintenance work for the nature trail, botanic walk, hermit crab walk, coral nursery and snorkel channels
• Participate in other reef monitoring activities such as shark monitoring, seawater temperature recording, weather station, etc.
• Attend the monthly meetings of the Environment Committee
• Occasionally provide a marine biology presentation for the local school / community
• Maintain and organize the Eco Centre
• Supervise and offer biological training to the Eco Centre Coordinator/Assistant
• Provide the resort management with a semi-annual report with suggestions/recommendations regarding general and special aspects of improving environmental protection
• Guest relations is an essential part of this role, together with running the Eco-Centre
Requirements
• Female candidates preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Marine Sciences
• 1-3 years experience in relevant field/role
• German speaking (at least at conversational level)
• O2 Administration & First Aid certified
• Great personality and positive attitude
• Excellent communication skills, strong people skills
• Fluent English
