Assistant Chief Internal Auditor – Muscat, Oman – Big Fish

Our client is a leading Service Provider, with a head office in Muscat, Oman. They are currently seeking an Assistant Chief Internal Auditor to join their team. The role will report to the Chief Internal Auditor (CIA) and will involve managing a team of 5-7 direct and indirect reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The role requires that the holder becomes a trusted advisor to the CIA and assist CIA in meeting or exceeding key stakeholders’ expectations.
• By assisting CIA in managing day to day operations of internal audit (IA) department, executing audit reviews as assigned, undertaking reviews of work performed by the team till finalisation of the reports (wherever required), and ensuring timely completion of annual internal audit plan in accordance with IIA Auditing Standards/ best practices.
• The role requires both execution and managerial responsibilities (approximate ratio: 50:50)
• A deep understanding of the entire business, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and best practices in internal audit, assurance, risk management and IT in a business environment shall be required.

Workstreams will be briefed as required and tasks will include:
• Assist the CIA with the annual planning process including the annual risk assessment of the company to produce the Annual Audit Plan
• Assist the CIA in further development and implementation of continuous quality assurance programme and best practices for internal audit department.
• Manage and Execute audits portfolio as assigned by CIA / as per annual internal audit plan.
• Wherever required, supervise the planning, scoping and execution of audits, undertaking the necessary quality assurance to ensure that reviews are conducted in accordance with IIA Auditing Standards and best practices
• Wherever required, oversee draft and final reports for review, ensuring quality is delivered and challenging conclusions to ensure pragmatic, supportable solutions that improve and optimize control environments.

Salary:
OMR 3,500 to 4,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting or IT or any field relevant to the company business.
• ACCA / CPA or a Master’s Degree shall be an added advantage.
• One of the audit qualifications such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) or other relevant qualifications is a must.
• 10 - 15 years of internal audit experience post-qualification, of which at least 5 years at senior level or at managerial level.
