Feed Mill Manager

Job description / Role

Our client, a green field project for poultry “Broiler” production in Sultanate of Oman is planning to build a 50 MT/h plant to produce broiler feed “mainly from Corn and Soya”. This role is for an experienced individual looking to take the next step in their career. The Feed Mill Manager will be responsible for the feed mill plant building and machineries erection at the project stage. In the production stage, he/she will oversee the full-scale feed manufacturing facility along with the grain elevator, all the process from inventory until finished feed and maintenance.

During planning and construction: The first two years
• Assist in planning, procurement of machineries, supervision of the feed mill construction, related activity, machinery erection and commissioning.
• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
• Ensure that feed mill project is delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
• Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
• Ensure resource availability and allocation
• Develop a detailed project plan to track progress
• Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
• Report and escalate to management as needed
• Perform risk management to minimize project risks
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

At Operation period - After commissioning
• Review production records
• Schedule feed production and supervise the operation of computerized batch mixing and grinding equipment
• Keep inventory of feed ingredients and order as needed
• Test and review feed/grain quality
• Schedule employee shifts and keep track of employee time
• Evaluate operating procedures
• Set quality assurance standards
• Prepare and monitor monthly, quarterly and yearly budgets
• Stay up to date on new technology and ways to make process improvements
• Train new employees and provide development opportunities
• Ensure all employees are trained on safety and continue to stay up to date
• Plant Maintenance, maintain all the feed milling equipment and other equipment needed to perform duties such as loaders, scales etc.- Administer effective maintenance program
• Oversight of all feed mill staff and operations

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, poultry science, or feed science & management.
• Has experience in Building new feed mill plants
• Proven working experience, 10+ years’ experience in feed mill productions (FEED MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY)
• Grain operations background is preferred
• Familiar with / understanding of HAACP, ISO certification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
• PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus
