Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Deliver lectures/workshops/seminars for young and mature learners
• Deliver the syllabus for the Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Insurance
• Develop and prepare curricula, course plans, learning materials, assignments, activities and assessments for student learning.
• Selects textbooks and other resources for the class.
• Guide class discussions, whilst encouraging debate and feedback amongst students.
• Undertake monitoring and assessment of students’ course work, project work and examinations, and maintain up-to-date and accurate records of their progress and achievement.
• Participate in course team activities
• Assist with induction of students.
• Participate in departmental periodical meetings
• Participate in course/degree, curriculum revision and academic planning activities as part of the College quality framework
• To research teaching materials and to identify and utilise current best practice in the relevant subject area.
• Conduct further research into their specific field of knowledge/interest
• Compile bibliographies of relevant materials for class reading assignments.
• Contribute to the development, promotion and marketing of new courses
• Provide academic advise and pastoral support to students
• Liaise with employers, sponsors and other organisations as necessary to enable the meeting of student learning requirements

Requirements

• PhD holder in Insurance, or
• Master Degree in one of the following specializations:
• Risk Management and Insurance
• Finance, Banking and Insurance.
• MBA (Insurance and Banking).
• College level teaching experience for at least two years for PhD holders and eight years for the Master’s Degree holders.
• The candidate must have one of the following professional certificates:
• Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) UK, or
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) USA, or
• Associateship of the Insurance Institute of India (AIII).
• Published research papers in Scopus, ABDC, Web of Science indexed journals is an added advantage.
• Conversant with technologically infused academic environment, cultural awareness and sensitivity are essential.

The College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) is a government organization established by a Royal Decree in 1983 with the objectives of educating and training bankers and encouraging research in Banking and Financial subjects. It is under the juristic supervision of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) and is supported by the commercial banks operating in the Sultanate.
