Senior Hydraulic Design Engineer/ Flood Protection And Hydrology

We are seeking to recruit a Senior or Principal Flood Mapping, Flood Protection Hydraulic Engineer for full-time permanent position with a European Engineering Construction Consultancy for their offices in Oman.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a senior level role 20+ years of experience is a requirement. If you have less years of experience, please apply to our other roles for Flood Projection/ Hydraulic Engineers.

NO previous Middle East experience is required for this engineering vacancy, as long as you can show extensive experience of Hydraulic Design, Flood Protection and Flood Mapping for an Engineering Consultancy.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement innovative strategies and designs for water resource management, including flood risk mitigation and hydrological risk assessment.
• Conduct thorough hydrological studies, focusing on watershed analysis, water cycle research, and flood estimation.
• Hydraulic design of flood protection facilities, storm water and highway drainage.
• Design of water transmission lines, water distribution networks, pumping stations, water reservoirs, wastewater networks and pumping stations
• Statistical analysis of rainfall data, gap analysis, etc. As well as River modelling (1D and 2D) for flood risk assessment and hydraulic design of bridge crossings
• Perform detailed meteorological studies to understand and predict weather patterns and their impact on hydrological systems.
• Employ advanced hydrological modeling software for in-depth analysis, predictions, and flood estimation.
• Design and manage effective watershed management and rainwater harvesting systems, incorporating flood risk assessments.
• Generate precise hydrological maps and data visualizations using GIS and other state-of-the-art technologies.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on significant environmental, water resource, and meteorological projects.
• Offer specialized consultation on sustainable water resource management, flood risk management, and the environmental implications of meteorological changes.
• Adhere to and enforce both local and international hydrological and meteorological standards and environmental regulation
• Possess knowledge in programming and data analysis, which is considered a significant advantage for handling complex hydrological data and modeling tasks.
• Preparation of tender documents and technical specifications
• Provide engineering services during construction, review shop drawings and support the Resident Engineer and Supervision Team with specialist advice

SALARY & BENEFITS
• This is a full-time permanent position with a well-known European engineering consultancy.
• R.O 1800-2000 per month

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
• A BSc Qualification in an Engineering related subject such as Civil or Environmental Engineering
• An additional Masters Degree Qualification
• A Chartered or Professional Engineer status is also highly desirable.
• Strong hydraulic design experience
• 20 + years of experience is required for this senior level role. You will have extensive experience in flood mapping, flood protection, mitigation engineering, hydrology engineering or related areas
• Strong proficiency in Hydraulic modelling software for flood protection. HEC-RAS HEC-HMS and GIS
• The Senior/ Principal role will require experience of overseeing a team for Flood Modelling/ Mapping Flood Protection and Hydraulic Engineering
• Strong English language skills, with excellent communication and project management ability.
• The ability to work to tight project deadlines.

Salary:
OMR 1,800 to 2,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
Additional benefits: Accommodation and Transport Allowance plus medical cover
