Water Treatment Operator

Job description / Role

• Operate STP plant utilizing the HMI system to ensure that it is performing in accordance with the contract: daily quantity and quality of the product,
• Operate STP plant according to Safety Management work instruction and procedures,
• Operate STP plant according to the O&M (Operation and Maintenance) manual,
• Collects and keeps accurate records of the plant operations and tests results,
• Log all events (filter backwashes, start-ups and shutdown, plant tripping, power failures, process changes etc) and ensure data accuracy,
• Report major breakdown to his supervisor immediately,
• Report alarms, abnormalities and breakdown during the shift to his supervisor,
• Ensures that water level is sufficient based on forecasted water demands,
• Monitor chemical dosage rate and keep flow rate at desired set points,
• Performs daily routine duties such as equipment and instrumentation visual inspection, fills the routine checklist, cleaning of the plant equipment and instruments if required,
• Regular and routine monitoring of running and rotating equipment for abnormalities such as sound, temperature, leaks and oil levels,
• Performs unloading, loading and preparation of chemicals as required for the operation.
• Coordinate with other operators during start-up, shutdown, or testing of any equipment or system,
• Check and inspect locally the status of the equipment or system to be started from the control room,
• Monitor chemical level and check for leakages in the chemical storage tank, pipes, and dosing pumps,
• Report any operational and maintenance problem to his supervisor immediately,
• Performs daily routine activities such as hosing, washing or scrubbing of channels, floors, walls, pumps, vessels and all related piping, valves, and equipment (mechanical and instrumentation),
• Maintains operations log to record daily flow, reads flow meters, records readings, records amount of chemicals used and chlorine residual.
• Maintains chlorination system as needed,
• Performs Sewage treatment Plant building grounds cleaning and maintenance,
• Performs routine inspection, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of online and the portable instruments/equipment such as chlorine residual analyzers, turbidimeters, pH meters, conductivity meters, sludge volume and other related equipment,
• Performs other duties as required by the O&M Supervisor.

Salary:
OMR 200 to 260 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

• Candidate should have at least 3 to 5 years experience as an operator in Sewage Treatment Plant.
• Preference is given to immediately available candidates who can join within a month or less: Minimum high school or equivalent and basic computer knowledge is required.
