Job description / Role

- Read through original material & rewrite it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained
- Refer to reference materials such as dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, & computerised terminology banks as needed to ensure translation accuracy
- Research legal, technical & scientific phraseology to ensure that they are accurate & remain consistent throughout translation revisions
- Liaise with clients to discuss any unclear points
- Follow ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information
- Translate messages simultaneously/consecutively into specified languages, written/orally, maintaining message content & context as much as possible
- Proofread, edit & revise final translated materials
- Utilise internet & email as research tools throughout the translation process
- Prioritise work to meet deadlines
- Consult with experts in specialist areas
- Retain & develop specialist knowledge on specialist areas of translation

Requirements

- High school/Equivalent certification/Degree/Diploma holder
- Previous 3-5 yrs experience
- Excellent communication & writing skills in English & Arabic
- Proficient in Microsoft applications
- Strong personality & good organisational skills
- Complete knowledge of both languages
- Must understand the diverse genres in both languages verbal communication
- Should be well aware of different styles of writing & morals of editing in both languages
- Listening ability to understand & alertness to grasp various expressions, idioms, & specific vocabulary & their uses
- Should be well aware of diverse registers, styles of speaking, & social stratification of both languages
- Attentive to different knowledge-providing sources like bilingual dictionaries, encyclopedias & how to utilise them
- Should know the sentence structure of indirect speech & different figures of speech in the source language
