Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Construction Coordinator will ensure that construction coordination between sub-projects successfully occurs. In particular the coordination shall cover the following areas:

1. Planning and Construction sequences
2. Work methodology, site constraints and site accesses
3. HSE and QC processes

Principal Accountability & Responsibility:
• Issue Shared Work Area Permit (SWAP)
• Co-ordination of the construction activities
• Animate the internal weekly works co-ordination meetings
• Monitor together with the construction planner the work progress of the two partners
• Assess the impacts of delays (late internal handover and late execution of works impacting the SWAP)
• Derive action plans to mitigate the delays and agree them with both partners
• Arbitrate among the partners, define the deployment strategy and re-plan works if necessary
• Ensure the transfer of the works from one partner to another
• Ensure that both partners are fully responsible of the following activities: HSE, quality, planning, work permits
• Prepare the 3-week look ahead planning and the operational planning
• Monitor with the partners the detailed phasing of installation for some specific areas (i.e. long lead items routing for access delivery and installation)

Roles and Responsibilities:
The Construction Coordinator ensures the following missions:
The key drivers to successfully deliver a tramway turnkey project are:
• Adapt to the project constraints. Anticipate issues
• Coordinate the various stakeholders of the project
• Optimize as much as possible, the production means and the production methodology
• Plan and report:
-Cooperate with the planning team to update the Construction Program
-Prepare the 3-week look ahead construction program
-Collect the production data for the planning & reporting team
-Report the potential delays and the risks to the project management

• Manage & Supervise
-Conduct the internal periodic coordination meetings with the partners (with emphasis to the Shared Works areas)
-Ensure that the necessary documents from the receiver prior to issue a SWAP do not present HSE or Programme Critical Issues
-Ensure that the construction activities in shared areas comply with HSE standards & regulations
-Arbitrate among the partners
-Develop some recovery plans in case of delays
-Ensure that works are transferred from one entity to another and documented appropriately through the Internal Handover Process
-Witness the internal Handover Process
-Ensure that on-site changes are coordinated and when required amend and reissue permit to
works
-Follow up of internal handover register and Swap register in compliance

Requirements

Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Civil or MEP Engineering

Desired Knowledge / Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years working on a large tramway / metro project
- Past experience in works supervision is a must
- Proven past experience in the coordination of the construction activities of large urban rail projects (Metro or Tramway) preferable
- Knowledge of Gantt and time distance (TILOS) planning. Knowledge of Primavera is a plus
- Good communication and interpersonal skills. Facilitator
- Knowledgeable of all standard Office tools
- Fluent English with proven experience in international environment is a must
