Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The job requirement is to ensure the profitability and maximum return on the investment for each construction activity/project undertaken by SPML in the UAE by the adherence to and application of apposite Contractual Conditions, risk mitigation and contractual safeguards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In conjunction with the VP-Qatar and the Head of Tendering, responsible for the formulation of the SPML companys business strategies and business planning for the Qatar region.
- Responsible for reviewing and advising the VP on the Commercial and Contractual Conditions applicable to construction tenders or direct invitations to work as Contractor to ensure their equitability.
- In co-ordination with the SPQ Project Director/Project Head/ Project Manager, jointly responsible for determining and documenting the Procurement Strategy for awarded Works and for finalizing all sub-contract & Procurement Agreements.
- Responsible for the drafting/provision of contractual letters/documentation in support of contract claims, contractual breech and Client dissatisfaction.
- Responsible for the financial performance of individual projects along with the sites Project Manager and for reporting such to the Vice President.
- Responsible for the management of the QA/QC requirements (and use of Procedures) to ensure documentary compliance with Company standards and levels of professionalism within the Regional Office Procurement Department and Contracts Section.
- Responsible for the management and operational activities of the Regional Office Procurement Department.
- Responsible for formulating and closing all contractual claims and if necessary, proceeding to arbitration and the taking of legal action (in association with appointed legal experts).

Requirements

- Finalization and ratification of subcontractor variation orders and final accounts.
- Preparation of JV Agreements and JV Board memberships.
- Liaises with Accounts Department to finalize Insurance and Bond related matters for new projects.
- Approves request for Performance Bonds and Bank Guarantees.
- Coordinates contract handover and participated in kick-off meetings.
- Undertakes final account negotiation with the Clients/Consultants/Contractors.
- Coordinates staff training and the performance appraisal of Commercial Department staff.
- Assists in dealing with all correspondence related to commercial matters on all SPQ on sites.
