Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose
• Develop, plan and implement the Industrial Hygiene Program (IHP), which aims to protect employees, contractors and visitors from unacceptable exposure to occupational health risks.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
• Applies a high level of specialist knowledge in anticipating and identifying all possible occupational hazards and measuring limits of exposures to determine the ways of workers protections.
• Hazards may be physical such as (Noise & Heat), Chemical or Biological and treated in accordance with established Company policies, Government laws and specialized technical standards.
• Ability to provide professional consultation and problem solving on complex Industrial Hygiene issues.
• Setting priorities based on health risk assessment and cost benefit rather than position or seniority of the requesting party is an on-going challenge.
• Requirement to think long term in solving health risks, and guide workforce to identify and implement engineering controls rather temporary solutions such as PPE.

Key Job Accountabilities
• Determines the Industrial Hygiene Program (IHP) and Annual Action Plan, ensuring compliance with relevant industrial hygiene standards.
• Lead EHS meetings with the various departments to present information on their activities and findings related to the Industrial Hygiene Program.
• Coordinates qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments to identify workplace health hazards and produce reports with recommendations for achieving hazard reduction and compliance with relevant industrial hygiene standards.
• Analyses workplace health issues, raised by departments and proposes recommendations for consideration to minimize health risks.
• Works with Medical Department to ensure solutions for health issues include medical monitoring where appropriate.
• Reviews workplace health issues, raised by departments and proposes recommendations for consideration to minimize health risks.
• Implement various control measures (engineering, work practices and/or personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, to reduce exposure risk.
• Performs presentations of applicable workplace health protection training including hazard communications, hearing conservation, respiratory protection and others.
• Audits the implementation of IHP in onshore, offshore and offsites facilities to identify issues as well as determine level of compliance.
• Coordinates the implementation of control measures including engineering, work practices and/or personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, to reduce exposure risk.
• Participates in business level risk assessments to ensure adequate controls are implemented.
• Reviews jobs requiring periodic medical surveillance due to the potential for excessive exposure to chemical and/or physical agents and advises the Chief Medical Officer accordingly.
• Leads the development and review of internal and external industrial hygiene procedures including SWPs, as directed by the Head of Industrial Hygiene.
• Maintains calibrated industrial hygiene equipment necessary to support the IHP and assist in the annual system audits.
• Develops and implements IH training material and programs and undertakes competency assessment for National Development Program and Safety teams.

Requirements

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry or Environmental Health.
• Professional designation as an Industrial Hygienist (e.g., CIH, ROH, COH, CMFOH).
• Knowledge and/or Experience 10 years’ experience in industrial hygiene, including at least 5 years’ in the oil and gas industry including onshore/offshore, or heavy industrial manufacturing setting.
• Minimum 3 years managing teams and coordinating strategic level industrial hygiene or similar projects.
• Technical and Business
• Skills Proficient in written and spoken English and the ability to perform presentations and to produce technical reports.
• Computer Literacy (MS Office).
