IT Manager

Job description / Role


Responsible for the installation, management and maintenance of the company’s IT hardware, software, resources and networks; provides training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of IT resources. Provides these services in an effective and cost efficient manner.


- Manages IT and computer systems
• Plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates the operations of information systems and electronic data processing (EDP)
• Develops and implements policies and procedures for electronic data processing and computer systems operations and development
• Meets with Line Managers to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and timelines
• Recommends contractors to design, develop, implement, operate and administer computer and telecommunications software, networks and information systems
• Manages IT budgets and expenditures

- ERP Implementation Project
• Plan, initiate, and manage ERP Software implementation project for the company;
• Lead and guide the work of technical staff members;
• Serve as a liaison between business and technical aspects of the project;
• Plan project stages and assess business implications for each stage;
• Monitors progress to assure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met; Initiates, reviews and approves project plans;
• Performs risk assessments to develop response strategies;
• Develops implementation plans that include analyses such as cost-benefit or return on investment (ROI);
• Delivers progress reports to management and other stakeholders including issue/action item logs, project status and risks;
• Develops and advocates best practices and tools for project execution and management;
• Builds, develops and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

- Ensures technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
• Will adapt with all hardware and software and network operating system
• Provides orientation to new users of existing technology
• Trains staff about potential uses of existing and new technology
• Provides individual training and support on request
• Provides recommendations about accessing information and support
• Maintains current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources

- Manages and performs other related duties as required



- Skills and Experience
• Must have minimum of 7 years relevant and hands-on work experience in all facets of IT management and services
• Hardware and software systems and programs
• IT networks, network administration and network installation
• ERP software implementation/ project management experience, preferably in the retail industry
• Detailed technical knowledge of database and operating system security
• Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc
• Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
• Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
• Troubleshooting
• E-mail and internet programs
• Management, supervisory & team building skills
• Decision making skills, analytical and problem solving skills
• Effective verbal, written, presentation ,listening communications skills
• Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet, word-processing, graphics, and website development programs at a highly proficient level
