Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The IT Planning & Projects Manager oversee, plan, monitor and manage the delivery of the IT Programs and/or projects from initiation to closure efficiently. The job holder will lead and manage the development and the on-going monitoring of IT Strategic Programme, as well as in defining and implementing a robust planning process across the programme.

Key responsibilities
- Lead to deliver the IT Programs and/or projects within the constraints of time, cost and functionality from initiation to closure following the departmental project delivery lifecycle
- Monitor the execution and closure of IT programs and/or projects efficiently
- Manage enterprise-wide IT programs and associated projects
- Identification of and management of issues and risks that may impact the delivery
- Manage change management controls and processes to ensure that any change is dealt with appropriately, communicated and agreed by all stakeholders
- Lead the project team by example, taking responsibility for the day to day direction of the project team ensuring the Team members are working together and that any issues within the team are dealt with
- Plan projects, manage portfolios & PMO’s, budget, organize and negotiate the allocation of resources
- Support to develop IT Strategy aligned with Business Strategy and determine short, medium and long term roadmaps, including annual IT department plans and performance targets
- Strategic and Operational planning for IT initiatives across the organization and associated business partners
- Develop or refine departmental policies, procedures and project delivery framework
- Lead a robust planning process across the IT strategy programme
- Lead the business process improvement/re-engineering/optimization initiatives
- Provide technical advice on planning processes
- Provides leadership in PM processes and best practices to IT team members. Establish new processes, document, consult, enforce and constantly drive project management process improvements
- Effectively manage senior stakeholders through timely and relevant communications while providing strong leadership and direction to cross –functional delivery teams
- Negotiate product /service vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service level agreements
- Direct the department’s communication with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities
- Managing changes, updates and reporting of the IT architecture
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending on projects and planning Team initiatives including make or buy decisions
- Lead the Change Advisory Board for IT deployments/modifications through formal change management processes
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor directly related or relevant to the job

Ensure the assigned responsibilities are delivered:
- To a high standard of quality and timeliness
- In full compliance with the Quality Policy and the Safety and Security rules and requirements
- In line with any standards and objectives designated in the Employee Performance Management system

Requirements

- Bachelor's in Computer Science or any other related discipline
- Relevant certification is preferred
- Minimum 12 years of related experience with 4 years in supervisory or management role
- Focused around delivery management, and therefore need to be able to work at many levels and utilize different styles of management throughout the project lifecycle to ensure delivery of business value
- Solid planning, organizational and multitasking skills to effectively manage various tasks associated with projects
- Excellent ability to communicate, manage lead and influence teams that do not directly report to PM
- Proficient in project management practices, a highly effective communicator and experienced in dealing with multiple projects
- Experience in developing PMO processes and driving PM best practices to IT teams
- Technically sound and be able to correlate the IT initiative to the overall organizational priorities
- Excellent writing skills in English, Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage
- Good organising and communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience of working in the region and knowledge of local culture will be an added benefit.
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Flexibility and a related ability to work autonomously
- A team player willing to work on tight timelines and pitch in when needed
- A positive attitude, patience and persistence, especially when dealing with various internal and external stakeholders
