Lead Dangerous Goods Officer - Qatar Airways - Doha

Reporting to manager cargo quality and dangerous goods, you will be responsible to ensure safety of the aircraft by monitoring the adherence of international regulations related to dangerous goods on all flights throughout the network.

Key Accountability:
- Develop best practices and carryout continuous assessments and update the Dangerous Goods (DG) policies and procedures in the Company Dangerous Goods Manual and maintain up-to-date information as per the regulatory and industry standards.
- You will be responsible in communicating between head office and all reservations/sales staff throughout the network and ensure guidance on regulatory requirements concerning carriage of dangerous goods.
- You will ensure Qatar Airways (QR) obtains all licenses for carriage of dangerous goods from the foreign countries ,to support the business growth of the company.
- Develop checklists, labels, dangerous goods declarations relevant to dangerous goods, for Qatar Airways in establishing the proof of compliance checks, to maintain the DG safety standards.
- You will monitor all corrective actions taken to close all audit findings and ensure actions proposed by the ground handling agents/ground services agents (GHA's/GSA's) are acceptable as per the laid down procedures of Dangerous Goods manual.
- Monitor trends on non-compliance by the GHAs throughout the network and highlight the discrepancy patterns while making corrective actions and recommend changes to the management.
- Knowledge on global industry approach for DG standards regarding transportation of dangerous goods and identify the gaps and opportunities in the DG procedures throughout the network.
- Investigate DG incidents/accidents and provide reports to Group Safety and QCAA
- Monitor and Ensure effectiveness of all Categories of DG training for the company and liaise with Training and Development for improvements as per the operational requirements.
- Completion of risk assessments to evaluate additional and inherent risks related to DG including lithium batteries.
- Responds to customer queries on time.

Requirements

You will need to hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent thereof and will also need to hold an active Dangerous Goods Regulation certificate - Category 6. A degree in Chemistry will be preferred.

You will need to have a minimum of 10 Years’ experience with Dangerous Goods acceptance and handling of which 5 years of job related experience is required.

A minimum of 2 years in standards and procedures related work and experience in Cargo Operational will be an advantage. You should have good presentation and should have decision making skills.

You must have a thorough knowledge in Dangerous Goods Regulations and Policies with up-to-date knowledge on latest technologies. Excellent knowledge on Chemical data sheet is essential.
