Job description / Role

General Job Purpose Brief
Responsible for providing transportation support that will ensure efficient cargo and baggage movement through the airport. Ensure that all cargo & baggage are delivered to their respective areas within the stipulated departmental SLA while meeting the assigned KPIs. Support operational requirement, drive and operate, Light Vehicles / Transporter Lifter / RDV & Baggage tractor attached with Unit Load Devices (ULD) to deliver cargo, baggage and mail on time to the respective area / location. Responsible for performing the operational support related to QAS Airside Electric Tractors charging regime. Ensure all units are charged, inspect and monitored as per shift/ daily plan in order to maintain high standard of equipment appearance and serviceability.

Work Duties
• Collect and transport Cargo and Baggage to various airside locations paying attention to items that require specialist handling (DG / VAL / PER / COU / AVI / Mail) to be carried out in line with operational procedures, safety and security.
• Support accurate recording of Cargo and Baggage locations to approach the right flight based on operational requirement.
• Carry out safe working practices in order to eliminate mishandling, incidents and accidents.
• Arrange necessary equipment required to meet the loading of Cargo and Baggage at baggage build up and Cargo areas.
• Carry out Pre trip vehicle inspections and report on serviceability of the equipment to highlight if there is any defect in the equipment.
• Awareness of Special Handling Products including Perishable and Pharmaceutical products so that the special products are delivered in stipulated time frame.
• Ensure all transported Cargo & Baggage are handled in line with company and departmental SOPs.
• Ensure quick delivery of Cargo & Baggage to respective location to avoid mishandling of Cargo and Baggage.
• Secure all dollies / trolleys / pallets from movement once it has been disconnected from the tractor.
• Ensure all towed items are in proper / safe conditions & within the loading height limits to avoid falling from the units while transporting.
• Assist in Cargo & Baggage loading / unloading & pushing / pulling ULDs.
• Drive and operate Light Vehicles / Transporter Lifter / Baggage tractor / RDV to be in line with company Health and Safety guidelines.
• Receives and inspects all electric tractors (ET and three wheeler) arriving on the base for charging in order to make available for operations.
• Record the defects found on the tractors and records all readings in order to submit shift/ daily reports to the shift superiors
• Make sure that charging of the tractors batteries is performed as per schedule and documents.
• Make schedule releases of tractors to the operations and hands over of all recordings to the Cargo & Baggage Transport Agent.
• Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Requirements

Minimum Educational Qualifications
Without a Degree
• Basic Literacy and Numeracy skills, English communication skills
• No prior job-related work experience

Essential
• Holding or able to obtain valid Airport Vehicle Operation Permit (AVOP) • Holder of Home Country Light Vehicle License

Preferred
• Holding or able to obtain Qatari Driving Light License

Required Work Knowledge and Skills
Essential
• Command of English language.
• Attend and qualify the mandatory training course upon joining.
• Be able to work with minimum supervision, unpredictable climate conditions and shift work with varying working hours to fit the operational requirement.

Preferred
• Familiar with operating aviation and logistics GSE.
• Awareness of good safety practices and be able to comply with company and departmental SOPs.
