Manager, Systems Engineering

Job description / Role

Working for a leading global real estate development company, the main purpose of the job is to monitor / Oversee the Systems design activities across the region in order to ensure project progress, status, changes and ensure the consultants are delivering detailed design according to company standards

Roles & responsibilities will include:

• Develop company-wide framework and design systems in relation to Systems Engineering and in accordance with local and national rules and regulations
• Define best practices for company Systems engineering
• Provide technical expertise and knowhow to the Systems engineers across geographies
• Oversee the execution of Systems engineering activities in Asia and Africa
• Oversee the design submittals / loading assumptions, soft and hard copies of calculations and drawings to provide comments and assurance on design standards, codes of safety and stability, strength and stiffness specifications when needed
• Support/Validate the Consultants proposals and advice management of the recommendation for appointment of Consultants when needed
• Oversee the progress of the project and standard of the work delivered by the contractor and the consultant to ensure that the project specifications and approved parameters are met
• Provide feedback to procurement on contractors/consultants performance/relationship
• Identify any changes to master plan that may have design implications, communicate to stakeholders (Construction, Project Management, Procurement and Development Management) and propose mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance with defined framework
• Liaise with the consultants to make sure that the engineer design are as per the local regulations and international standards and codes of safety and stability
• Ensure required permits and licenses are obtained
• Ensure compliance of the function with SLAs

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have the following experience, qualifications and attributes:

• Minimum of 8-12+ years of experience in real estate Systems design across asset classes with large master developers
• More than 5 years’ experience in Systems engineering management for large developments
• Existing network of design consultants with proven capabilities in mixed use development Strong knowledge and exposure to the real estate market
• Ability to innovate Systems design processes and horizontal/vertical designs
• Strong technical competency
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written) required to present design reviews to management for approval
• Strong people management skills, having previously managed at least 5 mid-senior level managers
• Excellent analytical skills to analyze designs, assess feasibility, and propose changes Assertive and good decision maker Education
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or construction management
• Masters in relevant field preferred
