Job description / Role

We are looking for GP/Family Medicine with training in diverse medical areas for the position of General Physician/Approved seafarer’s Doctor- Norwegian Maritime Authority with OGUK . The incumbent is expected to treat a wide range of medical conditions, develop long-term, personal relationships with their patients, produce individualized healthcare programs based on patient medical history , and offer continuous support and health management advice.

Job Description:
• Respond to emergency and symptomatic medical conditions and conducts immediate investigations/ treatment/ follow up and referrals as necessary.
• Attend to the Marine Medical Requirements as per standards of OGUK and Norwegian Maritime Authority.
• Provide consultation with the patients and keep the team informed of the diagnosis and treatment of presented condition .
• Recommend diagnostic tests based on patients histories and physical examination findings.
• Communicate competently and sensitively and establish a patient centered relationship Maintain an accurate patient’s health record documenting both patient and family history
• Carry out screening for long term conditions risk factors and early signs of disease particularly for patients with a family history of disease.
• Document and Refer patients when needed, to suitable medical specialist or for specialist diagnostic tests that are beyond the scope of Treatment
• Lead the management of ‘emergencies’ presenting at the Clinic in lines with the Clinic and QCHP policies and protocols
• Prescribe medication and/or administer treatment/therapy or other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury and adhere to the principles of safe prescribing
• Experience and knowledge of adult Vaccinations and immunization.
• Advise patients on regular health care vaccines.
• Promote healthy life style and support the organization in identifying, planning, and undertaking health promotion activities for identified individuals, targets group or for general population according to the local population health needs
• Coordinates with the Medical Manager in responding to complaints, incidents and take part in local investigations when required Skills, Knowledge Maintenance and Continuous Professional Development.
• Ensures Quality Improvement, Safety, and Infection Control Practice
• Understand patient safety and ensure it is part of the care delivery.
• Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care process.

Salary:
QAR 20,000 to 25,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

Experience:
• MBBS Graduate from an accredited university as equivalent as per Ministry of Public Health evaluation and recognition. MD in Family Medicine will be an asset.
• Needs to have an update dataflow and successful Prometric exams.
• Additional certifications related to the job profile is an asset.
• 6-10 years’ experience in General Medicine /Family Medicine/ Marine Medicine. OGUK and Norwegian Maritime Authority mandatory.
• Knowledge of Adult immunization and Vaccinations is a must
• Age: 32 to45 years old
• Language Fluency: English/ Arabic and others as appropriate.
• Familiar with use of computer software's related to the job.
• Candidates in Qatar need to have a NOC available.
