Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The NDT Level III Engineer will be responsible for managing and establishing NDT Procedures, methods, techniques and calibration processes and systems particularly in relation to material & weld integrity. Accountable to lead a team of NDT Supervisors and Technicians that are responsible to work with Operations to ensure QC Inspection and Non-destructive testing Examination (NDE) for the processes executed both in workshop fabrication & the installation & maintenance work on board vessels meets the applicable specification requirements as per the applicable codes and standards.

Furthermore, overall responsibilities would include introduction of new NDT process or technique, conducting training and examination of NDT personnel, NDT process Improvement, auditing of NDT processes and suppliers, be focal point for issues and audits by external /internal agencies.

Key Accountabilities:
• Ensuring that the job is completed in accordance with the client & class requirements.
• Develop and approve NDT procedures, plan, written practices, and NDT techniques.
• Interpret codes, standards, specifications, and Customer requirements related to NDT inspection to meet project compliance.
• Manage the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) program in the yard, to ensure that NDT Supervisors/Technician evaluate the quality of material, components, and systems correctly.
• Ensuring timely review and errorless reports submission.
• Train and mentor Level II Supervisors / Technicians in current methods and new technology.
• Perform site assessments and NDT audits.
• Monitor and report the repair rate for each project.
• Liaise with project team to review the requirements in the project and to prepare the procedures.
• Ensure any discrepancies observed are recorded and reported to the project team.
• Ensure that any required corrective action is taken to enable business continuity.
• Monitor and maintain the work quality standards and help ensure that the successful coordination and satisfaction of client inspections.
• Ensure storage and handling of NDT equipment’s is per manufacturer's recommendations / specifications.
• Ensure all documents, process and systems are geared towards the execution of safe, quality, and efficient productivity and in compliance with best practice, regulatory and certification standards.
• Assist QSA management to prepare and achieve the section goal as per the plan, by monitoring & acting in accordance with the project KPI’s to enable achievement of the targets.
• Participate in & lead section initiatives such as Quality Alerts, walkthrough, technical education etc.
• Ensuring that all work under his/her control is carried out in accordance with Company HSE Management System. Which includes:
• Following their supervision instructions and active participation in the HSE improvement initiatives
• Learning and following the operational and safety procedures relevant to their job
• Using the protective clothing and equipment provided and ensuring it is well maintained.
• Reporting any hazardous or unsafe conditions to their supervision
• Maintaining their tools and equipment in a safe condition and reporting any defects to their supervision
• Reporting any accidents, incidents and near misses promptly to their supervision.
• Taking care of the safety, health and wellbeing of oneself and others who may be impacted by your action and the process.

Requirements

Qualifications:
• A Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/ Material Science or its equivalent.

Professional Qualification:
• American Society for Nondestructive Testing, Nondestructive Testing - ASNT III in ultrasonic testing (UT) Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Penetrant Testing (PT) OR
• EN ISO 9712- PCN Level III in Ultrasonic testing (UT) Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Penetrant Testing (PT) AND
• PCN Level III in PAUT (Phased Array UT) and TOFD

Experience:
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in relevant position, and field experience is an advantage.

Technical Competency:
• Expert in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Radiographic Film Interpretation (RFI) and awareness
• Welding Inspection - Certification Scheme for Welding Inspection (CSWIP) or equivalent
• Integrated Management System (IMS) awareness
• Able to review and understand the Inspection and Test Plan for project.
• Knowledge on Offshore/Marine Structure, Piping and pipeline inspections and requirements of applicable code/standards.
• Able to understand the client/class requirements & refer the necessary rules & standards for inspection.
• Able to conduct quality talk and training.
• Knowledge of business processes, disciplines, and standards
• Knowledge of Quality Assurance and System Metrics
• Able to handle the client’s complaints and non-conformances.
• Able to understand welding requirements
