CH2M HILL Planning and Scheduling Engineer - Doha, Qatar

Program Description:
Qatar will be hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup Football and become the first Middle East nation in history to stage this event. The associated construction programme will be part of a major country regeneration programme including the development of required infrastructure and non competitive venues, like hotels.
CH2M HILL is shortlisted as programme management contractor (PMC) responsible for the construction management of competition and training venues and associated common domain precincts and the coordination of the regeneration programme integration works, acting on behalf of the client Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee .
As part of the management team CH2M Hill are looking to recruit a planning & scheduling engineer.
Scope
The Planning & Scheduling Engineer is appointed by and reports to the Head of Planning & Scheduling, and is part of the Programme Controls organization for the Qatar 2022 programme. The role is responsible for effectively and proactively managing, controlling, and reporting on the planning and scheduling activities as part of the PMC scope or as directed by the Head of Planning & Scheduling.

Duties and Responsibilities

Comply with safe work practices and ensure that safety is demonstrated as the highest priority

Manages the planning & scheduling parts of assigned projects as part of the overall programme

Assist in preparation of programme master schedule and performs critical path analysis.

Integrates project budget and schedule to support EVM analysis and reporting.

Participates in claims analysis and negotiations.

Prepares schedule performance measurements reports, forecasts and studies.

Develops and implements project control procedures in conjunction with supporting project ancillary functions.

Prepares project plans and detailed manpower utilization plans.

Analyzes critical paths and restraints to determine effect of changes on the schedule and recommends workarounds to mitigate impacts.

Develops plans and recommendations for mitigation of impacts of schedule problems.

Assist in preparation of the monthly progress report.

Provides project management consultation on factors affecting the timely completion of projects.

Performs special analysis for resource loading and performance progress.

Analyzes drawings, specifications and statements of work in the preparation of activity networks for project resource planning and scheduling.

Analyze progress reports against current baseline schedules.

Maintains liaison with the project and field personnel for schedule revisions and updates.

Provide project planning capabilities including critical interfaces and risks analysis.

Establish and monitor project controls KPI's

Ensure project policies and procedures are implemented accordingly.

Develop Action and Recovery plans to support project delivery on time.

Supports project management in accomplishing project status review and performance control.

Coordinates, supervises and checks the work of those scheduling personnel assigned to projects under his/her direction.

Basic Qualifications

Key qualifications for this position include:

Qualifications and Experience

B.S. Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent

Proven relevant planning & scheduling experience in a project delivery organisation

Experience working in a programme management office

Must have construction background and ability to evaluate and develop construction schedules

Experience managing master schedule and managing time contingency and float

Experience on design and construction of capital improvement programmes

Experience working on large-scale programmes.

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.

Experience working within the Middle East.
