Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Consultant (Vibration/Integrity Management) for a permanent contract to be based in Qatar

Principal Consultant role within the Wood Asset Life Optimisation (ALO) group supporting the IM (Integrity Management) and VDN (Vibration, Dynamics, and Noise) Specialist Engineering teams.

This is a senior technical role based in our Doha office which will contribute to the delivery of engineering excellence through:
- Definition and approval of technical scopes
- Providing discipline expertise to the business including Technical Authority responsibility
- Contributing to business growth
- Providing highly technical expertise

Expected to provide highly specialised expertise to the organisation and be recognized as a technical authority in one of the below fields:
- Integrity Management of process plant (i.e. pipeline integrity, fracture mechanics, RBI, corrosion management)
- Vibration, Dynamics, and Noise (i.e. vibration of process piping, static equipment, structures, machinery)

Utilising expert technical knowledge in the execution of engineering assignments to identify innovative solutions to complex problems and complete project tasks with little to no guidance and direction. Provides consultative direction and serve as the Discipline Technical Authority on several complex projects simultaneously.

Conceive, develop, and evaluate plans and criteria for solving a variety of unique and complex engineering problems. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering solutions.

Be a senior staff specialist who is recognised as an expert in theories and principles of the professional field, as demonstrated by significant accomplishments and contributions

RESPONSIBILITIES
Drives excellence in the execution and delivery.
- Responsible for ensuring ALO services are delivered to the highest technical standards.
- Continuous promotion of and adherence to the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
- Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of engineering projects.
- Support the development and delivery of the technical competence framework.

Providing discipline expertise.
- Exercises considerable credibility, foresight, and judgement in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives.
- Uses deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders.
- Works with project groups as an expert technical advisor on designs, processes, and engineering methods
- Solves problems requiring application of research data in own and allied professional disciplines; exercises mature business judgment in devising practical, economical solutions.
- Establishes the need for investigation and research and participates in the development of longrange plans and project goals.
- Represent discipline on contract / project / service line.
- Perform the role of Technical Authority when appointed to do so.
- Proactively supports the introduction of innovation, new ideas and practices to improve overall performance

Contributing to business growth
- Contributes to long-range strategic plans for the group.
- Contributes to business development through regular engagement, relationship building and delivery to clients, as well as identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand scope of work for Wood.
- Represents the company as a thought-leader at conferences and other public events.

Managing Others
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports.
- Provides technical guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
- Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities. Provides coaching and mentoring for less experienced staff, supports the development and retention of motivated and competent people.
- Directs work assignments, scheduling, and reviews of work in progress.
- Manage a portfolio of small projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resource allocation and risk.
- Supervises delivery of consultancy projects.
- Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements and technical/design safety requirements.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
- Significant experience (>15 years) working in the on- and offshore petrochemical industry.
- Demonstrable technical leadership experience in Integrity Management and/or piping/machinery vibration troubleshooting and engineering project management.
- Suitable engineering degree and education from a recognised Academic institution. Masters/PhD level is desirable.
- Chartership, Professional Engineer (PE) status or equivalent relevant professional license/registration from a recognized national or industry engineering institution is expected
