Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Urban Planning:
• Work with the Building Permit Architects to direct and develop a comprehensive understanding regulations associated with the different precincts.

Design Approvals:
• Liaise with district investor’s consultants and planners to provide guidance and advice regarding district developments. Make the necessary assessments and recommendation of plot development applications and liaise with other technical staff to facilitate approval process and issue approval.

Landscape Architect:
• Providing landscape architectural direction for the development of the public and private domain.
• Review and assessment of landscape drawings pertaining to Building Permit Applications

Communication:
• Liaise with consultants to clarify the landscape regulation.
• Confers with technical Staff, Project Managers, Consultant architects, designers, and land planning and development specialists to devise and recommend arrangements of land, new building projects and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial, recreational and community uses.

Correspondence:
• Prepare correspondence and recommendations on measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, and housing and transportation to control and guide community development and renewal.

Environment:
• Working closely with sustainability regulations

Urban Planning Development and Knowledge:
• Keeps informed and updated with development in this specialised areas to enable the creation of value

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
• BSc in Landscape Architecture / Urban Design.

Minimum Experience:
• Ten years practical experience in Urban Planning, ten years experience in surveying, landscape architecture and city planning
• High level technical skills in the area of Urban Planning particularly in the field of development assessments and building approvals with ability to use modern computer based design tools.
• Leading edge knowledge in strategic and statutory planning and the implementation of planning policy.
• Demonstrated high level understanding of government processes, policy development and analysis and analytical problem solving, particularly as these relate to land use planning, land management and town planning requirements for physical development and community facilities. This would include a sound knowledge and demonstrated advanced skills in the interpretation of the relevant planning regulations and legislations.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare or mentor the preparation of timely and accurate written advice, briefings, reports, proposals and complex submissions in relation to statutory, planning, and policy matters.

• Excellent skills in consultation, networking, advocacy and communication.
