Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Ensure customer service/sales takes priority over tasks
• Optimise sales in line with company budgets ensuring right product at right time
• Ensure all sales opportunities are maximised through effective use of all promotional/marketing opportunities
• Ensure effective merchandising layout implemented in relation to sales targets and store objectives, utilising merchandising standards as set out in section 3
• Monitor and continuously seek to understand commercial environment, local trading patterns, competitor activity and market trends in the retail sector and their impact in store
• Monitor the handling of customer complaints in line with Company policy and seek regular feedback
• Manage operating costs within budgetary guidelines
• Ensure that staff adopt and adhere to the company dress code in order to promote a positive and professional image at all times
• To maintain strict levels of confidentiality with regard to all areas of the business particularly commercial information and personal details of employees
• Ensure that staff have the skills needed to meet company expectations and identify and prioritise training needs accordingly
• Carry out regular and relevant in-store training and enrol staff on relevant Learning and Development courses
• Ensure all staff are appraised in line with company guidelines (minimum one appraisal per year)
• Ensure store expectations and priorities are communicated to staff and regularly review and provide feedback on staff's performance against expectations
• Optimise the use of support resources, including the Asst Mgr, Visual Merchandising Coordinators, Trainers, Dept Supervisors, Cashiers, Back store staff, etc
• Deal with staff grievances in accordance with the company policy
• Ensure that job rotation is implemented in the showroom giving each staff member an opportunity to move to different section in the division/showroom
• Maintain high standards of visual appearance throughout the store including all non-retail areas
• Operate an effective stock management/Back store management system to maximise sales and profitability

Requirements

• Recommend price revisions to ARM and Merchandise Manager
• Translate company strategy, objectives and policies into relevant, realistic working targets and practices for the shop. (ex - promotions, sales budgets)
• Monitor sales performance against last year, last week and budget on a daily and weekly basis and communicate to staff
• Ensure seasonal peaks, troughs and important trading/promotional events are taken account of when preparing forecasts and staff rosters
• Provide department reports on slow moving, fast moving and non moving items to the ASM / Dept Supervisors and Inventory Controller/Warehouse Manager
• Interpret and act on operational profit and sales reports generated through finance and focus on improving under-performing areas
