Our newest opportunity is for a Structural Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Qatar.

Responsibilities

Paramount to success within this varied role will include;

- Preparing structural designs from concept through to detailed design which achieve the following safety, sustainability, durability, serviceability and functional requirements in accordance with international codes.
- Carrying out design reviews at appropriate intervals during the design process.
- Representing structural department in client and contractor meetings
- Managing other professionals on a project basis, ensuring that work produced is to the required quality, produced on time, and within man-hour budgets.
- Attending design team meetings with other disciplines, municipality representatives, site personnel and client representatives.
- Responsibility for overall scheduling, planning, developing design and specifications and other required documents related to Structural design as well as mentoring junior engineers.
- Carrying out structural design of elements of buildings/light civil structures in reinforced concrete and structural steel in accordance with industry standards.
- Communicating design requirements and practical construction details clearly in sketch form.
- Supporting REVIT production by starting structural REVIT models and updating as required.
- Coordinating within the design team, other disciplines and providing construction site backup on technical and design issues when required.

Requirements

Qualifications

- To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envisage that you will bring a between 6 - 8 years' experience from a similar role working within an Engineering Consultancy environment partnered with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Thorough understanding of structural behaviour, soil/structure interaction, local and international design codes and standards in the design of steel and concrete structures.
- Experience in managing and designing large and/or complex structural projects from concept design through to construction document production.
- A strong understanding of building structures, their stability and load transfer systems with the ability to analyse at different stages of projects and complexity.
- The ability to use structural analysis and design software, including STAAD, ROBOT, ETABS, SAFE, ADAPT, AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Excellent written and verbal skills with ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong client facing and presentation skills.
- Geotechnical design experience
