Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose: To understand the meaning and the context of the original writing and then to translate it in another language while maintaining the integrity of the original work.

- Ensure adequate and accurate translation
- Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained;
- Proofreading and editing final translated versions;
- To proof-read text translated by other in-house and freelance translators prior to delivery to the client.
- Translate from Arabic into English, and vice versa, original texts, documents, etc. and ensure that translations retain the content, meaning, and feeling of the original material.
- Compile dictionary of terminology and information to be used in translations, including legal and or technical terms.
- Support project parties to ensure proper project related documents are produced
- Check translations of legal and technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation revisions.
- Provide support to project team
- To perform any other tasks as required by management to facilitate the smooth running of a small business (e.g. database work, translation activities, etc.).
- Support the work of the team by attending meetings as required and serving as interpreter (simultaneous or consecutive)
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices and apply the same for continuous improvement at QPM
- Refer to reference materials such as dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, and computerized terminology banks as needed to ensure translation accuracy.

Requirements

- A degree in translation or modern languages
- With 8-10 years’ experience and minimum 4 years’ experience in the Construction industry
