Urology, Radiation Therapy, Gastroenterology and Acute Medical Unit
HOURS OF OPERATIONS
24 hours daily, 7 days a week
No. of Beds: 41
Nurse Patient Ratio: Day 1: 4- 5
Night 1: 5 -6
Care Assistant Patient Ratio: Day 1:4-5
Night 1: 13 - 14
SCOPE OF SERVICE
Services covered in this Unit include 41 beds which belong to Urology, Radiation Therapy, and
Gastroenterology and Pulmonology. A-3 also provides nursing care primarily to adult patients and a
selected group of hemodynamically stable pediatric patients, with malignant and/or congenitally related diseases that require complex diagnostic workup or treatment follow up.
The Unit also provides clinical rotation to nursing interns, graduates and students.
FREQUENT PROCEDURES/SERVICES/FUNCTIONS
Management and care of adult and pediatric patients with Urological conditions
Radical Cystectomy with urinary diversion
Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TURP)
Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor (TURBT)
Penile Prosthesis implant, and removal of
Bladder Augmentation
Radical/Simple/Partial Nephrectomy
Hypospadias/Epispadias Repair
Management and care of adult and pediatric patient requiring Radiation Therapy with the following
conditions
Medullablastomas
Brain Stem Tumors
Astrocytomas
Retinoblastomas
Nasopharygeal cancer
And other conditions that are undergoing radiation therapy
Management and care of Adult a patients with gastrointestinal conditions
Esophageal Disorders (Esophagitis, Gastroesophageal reflux disease, Esophageal varices)
Gastroduodenal Disorders (GI bleeding, Gastric Ca, Peptic ulcers, Diverticulitis, Crohn's Disease)
Liver Diseases (Liver Cirrhosis, encephalopathy, Liver Failure)
Pancreatic Disorders (Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis)
Biliary Disorders
Pulmonology patients that require a high level of nursing care and monitoring
Central line management and IV cannulation
Continuous and intermittent pain management: (PCA and epidural)
Management of patients requiring hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Requirements
Registered Nurse with current nursing license from country of origin.
Eligible for registration/ licensing with The Saudi Commission for Health Speciaties. Professional Connections will explore this with you on application and assist you with the processing.
A minimum two years recent acute care nursing experience in a tertiary hospital looking after some of these cases, you will be trained and undertake competencies for the areas you have no experience in.
