Job description / Role
Scope of Service: Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Outpatient (OPD)
Hours are extended to accommodate patients awaiting admission or in extenuating circumstances. A maximum of 5 patients can be accommodated during the extended hour's period. The Unit is also concerned about the patients' continuity of care and thus provides weekend services.
No. of Treatment Area Beds: 24
No. of Day Medical Surgical Unit (DSMU) beds: 8
The aim of the Children's Cancer Centre Outpatient Department is to provide comprehensive quality care to children with hematological and oncology disorders and their families.
The Outpatient Clinic is located on the ground floor of the Cancer Center and is divided into the following three areas:
* Assessment area
* Physician clinics
* Treatment areas
The assessment area allows for the initial screening of the patient (with scheduled and unscheduled appointment) for potential communicable diseases. If a patient presents with rash or other signs of communicable disease, two contagious rooms with negative pressure are available to for patient isolation. A focused assessment is performed on all patients in the Assessment area including vital signs, height/weight, pain assessment and a brief interval history from the families.
There are 33 physician clinics every week. These clinics are divided into the following:
* Leukemias
* Solid tumors
* CNS
* Bone Marrow Transplant
* Lymphomas
* Psychiatry
* Infectious Diseases clinics every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month
* Histiocytosis clinic every 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month
* Stem Cell Transplant
* Benign Hematology
Nine Physician led clinics are also available for patient care:
* A Dietitian Clinic conducted every Tuesday
* Procedure Clinics run every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday undertaking procedures that require moderate sedation administration such as Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy (and occasionally lumber puncture)
* Daily immunization clinic
* Employee re-contracting clinic is also available every other Saturday-Wednesday for the annual screening of employees
* Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Clinic
* Hematology Nurse Clinic

Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
* Current Registered Nurse Licensure from country of origin required.
* Four (4) years hospital experience as a registered nurse with at least one (1) year of nursing leadership experience required.
