Overview

Aramco is seeking a Carbon Materials & Polymer Application Specialist to join the Non-metallic Applications Development Division of Aramco's Research & Development Center (R&DC).

The Non-metallic Applications Development division conducts cutting-edge research activities to promote new applications for non-metallic materials and enable further adoption of polymeric materials at a global level.

The division's goal is to develop innovative composites-based technologies, which enable increased demand for polymers in five main sectors (Oil & Gas, Building & Construction, Automotive, renewable and packaging).

The Carbon Materials and Polymer Application Specialist's primary role is to develop and implement new research programs with a focus on synthesis, design, optimization and implementation of processes to produce cost-effective non-metallic carbon materials for the development of advanced composite materials for multiple applications in the target sectors. This role also includes establishing partnerships with national and international organizations to advance technology development and ensure effective commercialization of the developed technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Work with research organizations and manufacturers to identify technical gaps and challenges that hinder vast penetration of non-metallic carbon materials in the targeted sectors.

Conduct technical feasibility studies, designing R&D strategies to reduce the cost of production and enhance the manufacturing process .

Identify cost - competitive applications for non-metallic carbon materials and associated composites, launching research projects, leading lab technician(s) and junior scientists , and engaging with external partners to advance the technology readiness level of the targeted development.

Project planning, execution, implementation and data analysis, as well as liaising with stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with Aramco's ongoing non-metallic initiatives.

Train and mentor junior scientists.

Keeping abreast with engineering and scientific developments of carbon material manufacturing using a variety of precursors, conventional/advanced manufacturing processes of composites, design methodologies of composite parts.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D in Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Composite Materials, or a closely related filed.

Ten (10) years of R&D experience in non-metallic composite development including at least five years in the field of carbon materials manufacturing and composites.

Published scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international events.
