Job description / Role

Job Purpose

As a Precast Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and detailing of precast concrete elements for construction projects. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to develop cost-effective and structurally sound precast solutions that meet project requirements. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed drawings, coordinating with fabrication teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.

Key Accountability Areas

Precast Design and Modeling:
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to create detailed drawings and models of precast concrete elements.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to develop efficient and aesthetically pleasing precast designs that meet project requirements.
- Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure the integrity and stability of precast elements.

Detailing and Drafting:
- Develop detailed shop drawings, erection plans, and fabrication drawings for precast concrete components, including panels, beams, columns, and connections.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to incorporate reinforcement details, embeds, and other structural elements into precast designs.
- Ensure accuracy and precision in all drawings and documentation, adhering to industry standards and project specifications.

Coordination and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and fabricators to coordinate design activities and resolve any design-related issues.
- Participate in design review meetings and provide technical expertise and guidance on precast design matters.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on design requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

Quality Control and Compliance:
- Review and verify design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ACI, PCI, ASTM).
- Conduct quality checks on precast design documentation to identify and resolve errors or discrepancies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy in precast design work.

Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about advancements in precast design technology, materials, and construction methods.
- Seek opportunities to optimize precast designs for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Actively participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in precast design.

Academic Qualification
- Diploma Degree in Design
