Estimation Engineer

Job description / Role

Project’s Technical Specifications
- Understands and analyzes the project technical specifications and requirements such as grades of materials and buyout items, surface preparation and painting system requirements, schedule of delivery requirements, bill of quantities and all other items that are to be identified.
- Coordinates with various departments like engineering, material planning for information when required for estimating.

Material Take Off
- Does accurate and detailed Material take off in case Bill of Quantities is not provided by the customer along with the bid documents.
- Identifies and sends clarifications to Sales Department for any missing information required for the commencement of the estimating process.
- Categorizes the Material (After take-off) in various categories depending on fabrication complexity and other factors as per company’s standard categorization procedures.
- Enters all Material take-off into the Oracle system to obtain summary.

Project Estimation
- Discusses in detail with the Manager key pricing criteria namely man hours and method of measurement.
- Contacts possible vendors for purchase of items as may be required and selects the best bidders to ensure best resources.
- Prepares the Project Estimation for review and submission.

Preparation and Release of Quotation
- Prepares the quotation as per company’s standard covering all Technical considerations, Assumptions, exclusions and terms, for review and approval of the Manager prior to prior to its release.
- Checks with the department for mark up and other commercial issues.
- Decides on the validity of the Quotation if not provided by the customer.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in Estimation as Estimating Engineer or any similar post from a Steel
Fabrication Industry.
- In-depth understanding of project estimation is a must.
- Proficiency in Engineering software like PV Elite is a must; AUTOCAD is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English language (oral and written).
- Customer management skills
- High degree of flexibility
