Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

PURPOSE: To plan, allocate and direct the Private Equity Departments projects / engagements covering Private Equity investments and Mergers & Acquisitions (buy or sell side) and monitor projects’ progress on an ongoing basis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Developing short and long-term departmental goals, policies, and procedures; ensure to implement the same under area of responsibility for effective operations.
• Directs and controls the firm’s private equity activities and overall responsibility for the business performance of the entire private equity business.
• In conjunction with Business Area Heads/Senior Management, develops the strategy and investment policy for the business.
• Functions directed will include fund raising activities and the origination, negotiation and structuring of major transactions.
• Significant relationship management responsibility for key clients.
• Responsible for identifying, evaluating, negotiating, closing and monitoring PE investments.
• Provide Merger & Acquisition services through assisting clients in conducting merger and acquisition analysis, structuring of deal and negotiations on behalf of clients and acquisitions & post deal merger implementation and integration.
• Understand and analyze, through client meetings, the client’s key commercial and financial drivers.
• Provide support in coordinating cross-functional teams to bring together all the relevant company’s expertise that can service clients’ needs (when applicable).
• Review client deliverables produced by company and/or third-parties.
• Liaise with Business Development and Placement to assist in securing placement of deals.
• Implement systems and procedures to effectively track service quality; address and manage feedback and interactions with stakeholders and ensure client expectations are met.
• Monitor the performance of staff on an on-going basis, set the agreed goals and competencies and ensure that all staff has an individual development plan.
• Assist in identifying the training and developmental priorities of the staff in consultation with the Deputy CEO and Human Capital and ensure that staff are adequately skilled to meet future requirements.
• Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance.

Requirements

Education:
• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Banking & Financial Management or equivalent.
• Relevant professional certification is a plus: CFA, CPA, CA.

Experience:
• A minimum of 12 – 15 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 3 in a similar role.
• Relevant work experience and industry exposure, preferably in the Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Transactional Services sector or equivalent.

Skills required:
• Strong knowledge of the applicable Shari’a laws and regulations.
• Strong networking and business development skills.
• Sound knowledge of financial modelling and business valuation.
• Knowledge of potential and existing transactions applicable to Equity Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions.
• Strong presentation, influential and negotiation skills.
