Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- The incumbent will report functionally to the Health & Safety Manager to assist in providing a safe and effective work environment and with policy and procedure development and implementation.
- Work collaboratively with the EHS Team, Client, and Contractor to examine potential health and safety issues and assist with controls.
- Provide safety/health technical support and assistance to Project and coordinate safety/health requirements with construction/site managers, (sub) contracts H&S managers, project engineers and other project personnel as required.
- Assign work responsibilities and duties to safety staff assigned in the Project and provide technical support and direction on work products (e.g., Project HS Plan and site-specific medical and evacuation/emergency plans).
- Monitor, review, and analyze proposed changes in safety/health laws/regulations, performance standards, and industry standards/practices potentially affecting the Project and provide input and recommendations for addressing such changes.
- Monitor the full compliance with all applicable legislation, QCS 2014 and best industry standards.
- Assist in procurement and be responsible for the issue, control and availability of the necessary safety equipment including the PPE.
- Organize HS inspections, audits, walk-through, and report the findings, collect data, review incidents, analyze trends, and recommends corrective and preventive actions.

Requirements

- B.Sc, BEng, BA or Equivalent Degree
- At least 15 years overall experience
- With 5 years of experience working in rail and metro projects
- Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight to safety/health subcontractors.
- Experience in developing and implementing safety/health awareness training programs
- In-depth knowledge of national and international safety/health laws/regulations, industry standards for safety/health performance, and best management practices for minimizing potential safety/health hazards during project execution.
- Proficiency in managing safety/health systems and supervising technical staff.
